The Center for Contemporary Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University was established by the Decision no 2265 QĐ/XHNV-TC dated September 17th 2007 of the Rector of USSH. It is tasked with studying, coordinating, supporting the training and advising of religious issues to serve national socio-economic development and international exchanges and cooperation.

Missions:

  • Coordinate the implementation of domestic and foreign research projects and programs on the general religious issues divided into basic research, applied research and forecasting, and religious studies in Vietnam during integration.
  • Provide information and assist other training and research institutions that specialize on religious studies.
  • Coordinate to organize professional courses on religion and policies to serve national socio-political missions.

The Center has formed relations with various domestic and foreign organizations and individuals that focus on religious studies to fulfill its mission.

1. OVERVIEW

Faculty of Political Science was established in 1995 to meet social demands of human resources and train graduates who are capable of researching and practicing political science and working in areas that require political knowledge.

Since the academic year 2005 – 2006, the Faculty has been providing master and doctoral programs in Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies and has offered undergraduate program in Political Science since the period of 2008-2009.

Short Training Courses:

Faculty of Political Science is assigned by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to provide short training courses of three or six months in the following areas and provide certificates for participants upon their successful completion:

  • Short training courses in Ho Chi Minh Studies.
  • Short training courses for Bachelors in other social sciences to advance their study as Masters of Political Science.

4. RESEARCH PROGRAMS

Faculty of Political Science is aimed at becoming a centre to train high - quality human resources of Political Science contributing to national defence and development. Its research activities focuses on three main areas: Political Science Theory; Political Practice of Vietnam; and World Political Practice..

As Political Science is relatively new in the educational system in particular and in Vietnam in general, in five or seven coming years priorities will be given to researches which directly serve the Faculty's training activities.

5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Faculty has cooperative relations in exchanges of members and publications with many universities, colleges, institutions and organizations all over the world such as Connecticut University, University of Oregon, University of California, New York University, Toronto University, Paris Institute of Politics, University of Toulouse and others in the region.

The seminar titled: "Environmental Journalism in Vietnam: Latest developments, players and topics co - organized by FEC and Konrad - Adenauer - Stiftung 

1. OVERVIEW

Established in 1990, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) is one of the largest journalistic training centers in Vietnam, offering high-quality, industry -recognized courses in Media and Journalism, including Public Relations and Advertisement. The majority of those who graduated from this Faculty of Journalism and Communication has become professionals with a good awareness of social obligations and responsibilities.

The quality of teaching and training is the first concern of the Faculty. The curricula, methods of teaching and learning have been constantly improved. Appropriate investment into modernizing facilities and equipment has been made to provide the best service to students.

As a centre for training and researching, the Faculty has the following missions:

  • Training qualified journalists, PR officers, media producers, etc. with undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees and diploma for media organizations as well as other social, economic and cultural organizations;
  • Studying media theories and practices in Vietnam, in region and worldwide;
  • Cooperating closely with domestic and international research centers, institutes and media organizations for media studies.

The Faculty will continue to consolidate the assets, expand the scope and training majors with focus on renovating training curricula, improving teaching methodologies, increasing the quality of training and research, and to enhance cooperation with domestic and international organizations and institutions.

The Faculty will continue to develop and become a high qualified Faculty of Journalism and Communication, offering high-quality, industry-recognized courses and research projects, expand and update new fields in modern mass media in order to meet society’s needs.

Due to its achievements, the Faculty has been awarded many valuable prizes such as:

  • 04 certificates of merit from the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the Faculty members;
  • 02 certificates of merit from the Rector of the Hanoi National University for the Faculty members;

4. RESEARCH PROGRAMS

The Faculty members have completed 45 research projects from the University’s to the Ministry of Education and Training’s levels, of which there have been some typical research projects such as:

  • History of Vietnamese Journalism (sponsored by Toyota Foundation);
  • Training and Improving the teaching quality for teachers of journalism (sponsored by Sasakawa Foundation);
  • Vietnamese Journalism after the Economic Renovation (a special research project funded by the National University, Hanoi);
  • On going project to establish a centre for mass communication research in Vietnam (with the University of Virginia, USA).

5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Faculty has good relationships with a wide range of international organizations in many countries including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China, USA, UK, Russia, Korea and Sweden.
