Faculty of Political Science

1. OVERVIEW

The Faculty of Political Science was established in 1995 to meet social demands of human resources who are capable of researching and practicing in political science and working in fields that requires political science knowledge.

Since the academic year of 2005 – 2006, the Faculty has been providing master and doctoral programs in Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies and it is going to provide undergraduate program in Political Science in the school year of 2008-2009.

Short Training Courses:

The Faculty of Political Science is assigned by the University to provide short training courses of three or six months in the following areas and provide certificates for participants upon their successful completion of the course requirements.

  • Short training courses in Ho Chi Minh Studies.
  • Short training courses for those who have BA degrees in other social sciences to advance their studies in master programs of Political Science.

4. RESEARCH PROGRAMS

The Faculty of Political Science is targeting at becoming a centre to produce a high quality human resource of Political Science contributing to the national defence and development, the researching activities of the Faculty focuses on three main orientations: Political Science Theory; Political Reality of Vietnam; and World Political Reality.

Due to the fact that Political Science is relatively new in educational system in particular and in Vietnam in general, in the periods of five or seven of coming years priorities will be given to researches which directly serve the Department’s training activities.

5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Faculty has cooperative relations in exchange of faculty and publications with many universities, colleges, institutions and organizations all over the world such as Connecticut University, University of Oregon, University of California, New York University, Toronto University, Paris Institute of Politics, University of Toulouse and others in the region.
