(1) Based on the systematization of theoretical studies on land, land recovery, land use, land use rights, opportunities and development, the thesis has developed the concept of development opportunities and clarified some related concepts.

(2) By combining the use of quantitative and qualitative investigation methods of Sociology, the thesis has pointed out the current status of land acquisition policies and strategies in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province and analyzed the development opportunities of the group of residents whose land was acquired when implementing land acquisition and site clearance policies.

(4) The thesis has proposed a number of recommendations to improve the effectiveness of land acquisition and site clearance policy implementation, thereby creating development opportunities for households whose land has been acquired.
