The thesis “Urban landscape and cuisine in contemporary prose – The case of “Hanoi people, eating and drinking stories of the past” by Vu The Long; “Going to Hue to eat rice” by Phi Tan and “Saigon spice space” by Tran Tien Dung” provides an insight into the relationship between urban landscape and cuisine in three outstanding contemporary prose works by three authors representing three different cultural regions corresponding to three cities of the North – Central – South. Each work not only depicts a vivid picture of the typical dining space of the regions but is also associated with personal and family memories and cultural identity of each region.

In addition, this thesis also contributes to approaching and understanding the works of authors who are still quite new to today's readers. From there, there are analyses and assessments of the styles of 3 writers in the field of writing about cuisine and urban areas in the movement of the contemporary prose genre.
