Sunday - June 16, 2013 17:05

The conference on the implementation of the training program and specialization plan for the period 2014-2020 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place on June 11th, with the participation of heads of departments. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector) chaired the conference.

At the conference, delegates listened to Dr. Tran Ngoc Lieu (Head of Training Department) present the plan for developing the school's majors and specializations.

Accordingly, the continued development and planning of training disciplines and specializations is identified as a key task for the next phase of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The university aims to both maintain, strengthen, and develop basic science disciplines and specializations as traditional scientific fields, while simultaneously utilizing existing resources and investing in new resources in a suitable manner to develop disciplines and specializations that combine theory and practice, as well as those with a high degree of practical application. As a multidisciplinary training institution, the training programs have a high degree of interconnectedness and linkage between disciplines and levels of education – this is an advantage in the development and planning of disciplines and specializations.

The planning of majors and specializations is implemented according to the following principles: developing new majors/specializations with high social demand; ensuring systematic and interconnected training programs at different levels; prioritizing the development of interdisciplinary, unique majors/specializations that leverage the strengths of various units; aligning with the overall training plan, the major/specialization development plan, and the development strategy of the University and VNU; playing a pioneering role in the Vietnamese education system; linking investment and development of conditions to ensure quality; and maximizing the effectiveness of international cooperation in curriculum development and training organization.

At the conference, speakers suggested that a review and assessment of the current state of training programs and specializations, along with quality assurance conditions in each unit, is necessary. Based on this, units will develop plans for the development of their respective programs and specializations, drawing on their strengths and development strategies, and subsequently building a comprehensive plan for the entire university. A Steering Committee for the Plan will be established, comprising representatives from relevant units and functional departments.
