On December 10th, 2019, at USSH the 169th Assessment at Programme Level by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) for USSH's Bachelor's program in History was started.

Participating in the opening ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr Tan Kay Chuan (lead assessor of the Bachelor's program in Psychology), Assoc. Prof. Dr Kiran Kaur (lead assessor of the Bachelor's program in History) and other staff. From the VNU and USSH's side there were Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy (Director of the Institute for Eduation Quality Assurance), Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector), Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim (USSH's Vice Rector), Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH's Vice Rector), Assoc.Prof.Dr Tran Thi Minh Hoa (USSH's Vice Rector), representatives of the Faculty of History and functional offices.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh remarked, in the context of competition and international integration, universities are trying to overcome challenges to increasingly validate its position. Therefore, quality accrediation is especially important as it helps identify and deal with the universities' shortcomings in research and training affairs, improving their status and extending their international relations. For USSH, the quality accreditation according to AUN-QA standards is still at the beginning and there are many things left to be done. The Universit commits to enthusiastically cooperating with the AUN-QA council during the whole assessment process.

On behalf of the AUN-QA Council, Assoc.Prof.Dr Tan Kay Chuan highly appreciated USSH's interest in quality assurance and emphasized the role of History as a major in preserving national heritage and identity, thus facilitating the international integration and relations of a country. To ensure the quality of researching and teaching history, the higher education institutions in Vietnam have to possess ample human resources, infrastructure and materials, etc. The role of the AUN-QA delegation is to help the Faculty and the University accurately assess and promote these resources.

After the opening ceremony the delegation split into two groups to work with their corresponding units and individuals. The whole program will last until after December 11th.

This is the 6th time the AUN-QA Assessment at Programme Level has been held at USSH. Since 2014, 4 bachelor's programs of USSH have had their quality accredited: Linguistics (2014), Oriental Studies (2015), Philosophy (2016), Literature (2017), Psychology and Sociology (2018).
