Congratulations to 18 outstanding VNU-USSH Students Awarded AEON 1% Scholarships

The annual AEON 1% Scholarship is designed to support students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) in their academic endeavors, scientific research, and international exchanges.
On the morning of November 27, 2024, the AEON 1% Club Foundation awarded 54 scholarships, each valued at USD 800, to students from three northern universities: VNU-USSH, Foreign Trade University, and Vietnam National University of Agriculture.
Among the recipients, 18 VNU-USSH students, primarily third- and fourth-year undergraduates, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements, active participation in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and their contributions to academic and cultural exchange, particularly between Vietnamese and Japanese students.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Ito Naoki, expressed his hopes that the scholarship recipients would continue to serve as bridges of friendship, strengthening ties between Vietnam and Japan.
Ms. Sasaki Mariko, Secretary General of the AEON 1% Club Foundation, congratulated the students and encouraged them to strive further to achieve their dreams.
Over the past 18 years, the AEON 1% Club Foundation has provided scholarships to students in seven Asian countries—Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Japan, China, and Cambodia. These scholarships aim to support students in their studies, research, and international exchanges.
At the award ceremony, Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh, a third-year student in the International Studies program at VNU-USSH, shared her aspirations:
“My greatest ambition is to become a lecturer in International Studies. To me, this is not just a career goal but a meaningful journey to explore the world, contribute to education, and share positive values with the community. My passion is driven by a desire to understand nations and people through the lens of politics, economics, and culture—key elements in today’s globalized world.”
She also noted that the AEON scholarship was not just a financial boost but a source of motivation, inspiring her and her peers at VNU-USSH to strive harder in pursuit of their dreams.

Thuy Thanh expressed her gratitude for the support from her university and the AEON 1% Club Foundation. She emphasized her deep interest in the Vietnam-Japan relationship, describing Japan as both an important partner for Vietnam and a model of discipline, responsibility, and creativity that she greatly admires.
“If given the opportunity to become a lecturer in International Studies, I hope to not only teach theoretical knowledge but also inspire future generations to explore and contribute to fostering deeper and more sustainable cooperation between our two nations,” Thanh added.She also noted that the AEON scholarship was not just a financial boost but a source of motivation, inspiring her and her peers at VNU-USSH to strive harder in pursuit of their dreams.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of VNU-USSH, posed for a commemorative photo with Ms. Sasaki Mariko, faculty members, and the scholarship recipients.
