Meeting with former Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam

Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim was pleased to announce important events during the week to commemorate Vietnam-Iran relations in general and the relations between USSH and Iran in particular. On March 9^th, the University organized an Exhibition on Persian Miniature and Calligraphy to introduce the beauty of Persian and Iranian arts to the University’s faculty and students. Additionally, its Faculty of Oriental Studies opened a Persian language course attracting 74 students in and outside the University. Last but not least, the Iranian Study room had been upgraded and remodeled to facilitate Iranian studies. These activities aimed to promote the relations between the University, the Iranian Embassy and the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association. It was hoped they would provide the faculty and students with better understanding of Iranian culture, education and contribute to Vietnam-Iran relations in general and relations between the University and Iran in particular.

Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic reception of Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim and USSH. He said Vietnam and Iran shared many similarities in their struggle for independence against imperialism, as well as more general views on the international issues such as human rights and climate change. Especially the two sides shared an Asian culture, which was one of the most important conditions to promote cooperation. Next, Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi expressed his desire to build cooperation between the universities in Iran with USSH, as well as his commitment to provide scholarships to students from Vietnam to Iran. Particularly, the University of Al Mustapha was going to grant five scholarships to students in Vietnam. This was one of the efforts to expand the knowledge of Vietnamese students in particular and Southeast Asian in general and of Islam and Iran.

Mr Sayed Kamal Sajadi was the former Ambassador of the Republic of Iran to Vietnam from 1995 to 1999, and is currently teaching Sociology at Tehran University. He has composed many works on Vietnam and translated the Kieu Story into Persian language.
