Meeting with the delegation from HAN University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands)

On March 14th, 2019, Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH's Vice Rector) and representatives from USSH's Faculty of Tourism, Office for Cooperation and Development welcomed and worked with the delegation from HAN University of Applied Sciences led by Mrs. Yvonne van der Meijs (Director of International Relations).

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Anh Tuan briefly introduced about USSH, a leading institution in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The University currently has 34 undergraduate programs and 73 postgraduate programs, ranging from basic sciences such as Philosophy, History, Literature and Linguistics to applied sciences such as Management science, Tourism studies, Social work, Journalism and Public relations. The Vice Rector hoped the two sides would soon begin cooperation through such activities as exchanging students and lecturers and conducting common research projects.

On behalf of HAN University of Applied Sciences, Mrs. Yvonne van der Meijs expressed her thanks for being warmly welcomed by USSH. She said, HAN always allows students to study and do internships overseas for at least 1 semester. HAN has been sending students to do internships at social work organizations and centers around Vietnam. To add academic knowledge to practical experiences, HAN would now like to seek partnerships with and send students to advanced academic institutions in Vietnam such as USSH.

Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the trust put by HAN into USSH and said the University would be willing to receive students from the Netherlands to study especially its applied programs such as Hotel management, Event management, Journalism-Communication and Social work. Accordingly, the Vice Rector suggested the two universities sign an official memorandum of understanding as a framework for specific cooperative activities.

The HAN University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1996 after combining with some other universities. HAN has two campuses in the cities of Arhnhem and Nijmegen: the former focuses mostly on economics and technology sciences, while the latter offers programs in healthcare, sports and social sciences. HAN has over 35.000 students and 4 faculties: Faculty of Business Management and Law, Faculty of Health and Social Studies, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Education.
