Meeting with the Vice Rector of Charles University at Prague (Czech Republic)

On November 12th, 2018, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and representative of Office for Cooperation and Development welcomed and worked with Prof. Martin Kovár (Vice Rector of Charles University) to discuss opportunities for cooperation.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh said USSH is one of the crucial members of VNU Hanoi. The University currently pursues the strategy of internationalization and increasing international relations. To this end, USSH would like to develop more cooperative relations with foreign partners in researching and teaching different disciplines. The Rector said Prof. Martin Kovár's visit was a good chance for USSH to further its relations with Charles University and other Czech Republic's universities as well.

In response, Prof. Martin Kovár said he was grateful for being warmly welcomed and able to discuss opportunities for cooperation. He said extending relations with Vietnam's universities is one of the important objectives of Charles University at Prague and also the Czech Republic. He suggested developing relations with USSH in social sciences and humanities such as history, philosophy, political science and literature.

Prof. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the goodwill of Prof. Martin Kovár. The Rector said, in 2016, USSH signed a memorandum of understanding with Faculty of Arts, Charles University. This is a good foundation for extending relations with other faculties as well. For reference, the Rector introduced some joint programs founded by USSH and its partners such as Humboldt University (Germany), Stirling University (UK), Zurich University (Czech Republic), and Toulous II University (France).

Charles University was founded in 1348, making it one of the oldest universities in the world. It currently has 17 faculties  plus 3 institutes, 6 other centers of teaching, research, development and other creative activities, a center providing information services, and 5 facilities serving the whole university. Charles University has nearly 50 000 students enrolled in more than 300 accredited degree programs that offer over 630 different undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
