The workshop titled: “Theoretical and practical foundations, research approaches and methodologies of mass media and cultural studies” was held by Faculty of Journalism and Communication (USSH, VNU) on June 26th, 2014.
Participants in the workshop included Mr. Ha Minh Hue (Permanent Vice President of Vietnamese Association of Journalists), scientists and researchers specializing in culture and journalism from universities, research institutes and press agencies.
The workshop focused on the following topics:
- Decode the definitions, theoretical and practical foundations of mass media and culture.
- Research approaches and methodologies of mass media and cultural studies.
- Study the generation and development of cultural industries in modern media.
- Improve understanding of the role, position, contents and existing issues of mass media and culture in Vietnam today.
- Policies to build up a modern media culture in accordance with the development of an advanced and traditionally–embedded Vietnamese culture.
The workshop was part of a state–level research project No.KX.03.11.15 titled “Vietnamese mass media culture in the context of market economy and globalization” chaired by Faculty of Journalism and Communication.
