Việc nghiên cứu “Hệ thống ngữ âm tiếng Việt của Việt kiều ở Mukdahan, Thái Lan” là một nghiên cứu cơ bản nhằm trả lời câu hỏi: hệ thống ngữ âm tiếng Việt ở đây đang tồn tại như thế nào? (thực trạng của nó), nó có những đặc điểm tương đồng và khác biệt gì so với tiếng Việt ở Việt Nam, đặc biệt là so với phương ngữ gốc (ở quê gốc) của cộng đồng dân cư này.
1. Hệ thống phụ âm đầu tiếng Việt của Việt kiều ở Mukdahan, Thái Lan có tất cả 22 phụ âm đầu bao gồm: /ɓ, th, t, ɗ, ʈ, c, k, Ɂ, m, n, ɲ, ŋ, f, β, s, ʂ, j, χ, ɣ, h, l, r/. Dựa vào kết quả đối chiếu hệ thống phụ âm đầu tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan với phương ngữ Trung cho thấy 20 phụ âm đầu có đặc điểm tương đồng: /ɓ, m, th, t, ɗ, n, ʈ, c, ɲ, k, ŋ, Ɂ, f, s, ʂ, l, j, χ, ɣ, h/. 5 phụ âm đầu có sự khác biệt: /β, v, z, ʐ, r, j/. Tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan không xuất hiện phụ âm /v, z, ʐ/ còn phương ngữ Trung không xuất hiện phụ âm /β, r/. Dựa vào kết quả đối chiếu hệ thống phụ âm đầu tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan với phương ngữ Bắc, có 17 phụ âm đầu có đặc điểm tương đồng: /ɓ, m, th, t, ɗ, n, c, ɲ, k, ŋ, Ɂ, f, s, l, χ, ɣ, h/. 7 phụ âm đầu có đặc điểm khác biệt: /β, v, z, r, ʈ, ʂ, j/. Tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan không xuất hiện phụ âm /v, z/ và phương ngữ Bắc không xuất hiện phụ âm / β, r, ʈ, ʂ, j/.
2. Hệ thống vần trong tiếng Việt của Việt kiều ở Mukdahan, Thái Lan gồm có ba thành phần cấu tạo: âm đệm, âm chính (nguyên âm) và âm cuối. Khi nguyên âm và âm cuối kết hợp thành vần có thể chia thành 4 loại vần: 1) Vần mở là vần kết thúc bằng nguyên âm có 12 vần. 2) Vần nửa mở là vần kết thúc bằng âm cuối /-w, -j/ có 19 vần. 3) Vần nửa khép là vần kết thúc bằng âm cuối /-m, n, -ŋ/ có 40 vần. 4) Vần khép là vần kết thúc bằng âm cuối /-p, -t, -k/ có 40 vần. So với phương ngữ Trung, tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan không xuất hiện các vần cổ [iŋ, eŋ, ɛŋ,uŋ, o:ŋ, ͻ:ŋ, ik, ek, ɛk,uk, ok, ͻk] và các vần môi hóa [uŋm, oŋm, ͻ̆ŋm, ukp, okp, ͻ̆kp]. Còn các vần khác thì có đặc điểm tương đồng nhiều hơn khác biệt. So với phương ngữ Bắc, tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan không xuất hiện các vần môi hóa [uŋm, oŋm, ͻ̆ŋm, ukp, okp, ͻ̆kp]. Vần ngạc hóa ở Mukdahan phụ âm cuối /-ŋ/ đều biến thành phụ âm cuối /-n/ như thể hiện qua các cặp biến thể ngạc hóa bao gồm: [iŋnh-in], [eŋnh-en], [ɛ̆ŋnh- ɯn], [ikch-it], [ekch-et], [ɛ̆kch-ɛ̆t].
3. Hệ thống thanh điệu tiếng Việt của Việt kiều ở Mukdahan, Thái Lan có 5 thanh điệu: 1) Thanh ngang có đường nét đi lên, âm vực cao, chất giọng thường, được ghi bằng [34]. 2) Thanh huyền có đường nét đi xuống, âm vực thấp, chất giọng chùng, được ghi bằng [32]. 3) Thanh ngã có đường nét xuống-lên, âm vực cao, chất giọng kẹt thanh, được ghi bằng [325]. 4) Thanh sắc có đường nét đi lên, âm vực cao, chất giọng thường, được ghi bằng [25]. 5) Thanh nặng là có đường nét đi xuống, âm vực thấp, được ghi bằng [31].
12. Khả năng ứng dụng trong thực tiễn:
Các kết quả của luận án có thể cung cấp các thông tin về những thay đổi của ngữ âm tiếng Việt được việt kiều sử dụng ở Mukdahan, qua đó có thể dự báo những xu hướng thay đổi, cung cấp thêm thông tin phục vụ cho việc dạy và học tiếng Việt tại địa phương, góp phần duy trì, vảo vệ ngôn ngữ văn hóa Việt trong cộng đồng người Việt ở Mukdahan nói riêng, ở Thái Lan nói chung.

Việc nghiên cứu “Hệ thống ngữ âm tiếng Việt của Việt kiều ở Mukdahan, Thái Lan” là một nghiên cứu cơ bản nhằm trả lời câu hỏi: hệ thống ngữ âm tiếng Việt ở đây đang tồn tại như thế nào? Còn các vần khác thì có đặc điểm tương đồng nhiều hơn khác biệt. So với phương ngữ Bắc, tiếng Việt ở Mukdahan không xuất hiện các vần môi hóa [uŋm, oŋm, ͻ̆ŋm, ukp, okp, ͻ̆kp]. Vần ngạc hóa ở Mukdahan phụ âm cuối /-ŋ/ đều biến thành phụ âm cuối /-n/ như thể hiện qua các cặp biến thể ngạc hóa bao gồm: [iŋnh-in], [eŋnh-en], [ɛ̆ŋnh- ɯn], [ikch-it], [ekch-et], [ɛ̆kch-ɛ̆t].

The research study entitled Vietnamese phonetic system of overseas Vietnamese in Mukdahan, Thailand was fundamentally aimed to answer the question regarding how the Vietnamese phonetic system exists there (in the current circumstance). Moreover, it explored the similarities and differences of Vietnamese in Vietnam and its counterpart, especially when compared with the original dialect (in the native country) of this population.
1. The initial consonant system of Vietnamese of the Viet Kieu in Mukdahan, Thailand has all 22 initial consonants consisting of: /ɓ, th, t, ɗ, ʈ, c, k, Ɂ, m, n, ɲ, ŋ, f, β, s, ʂ, j, χ, ɣ, h, l, r/. The comparison results show 20 initial consonants have similarities, including: /ɓ, m, th, t, ɗ, n, ʈ, c, ɲ, k, ŋ, Ɂ, f, s, ʂ, l, j, χ, ɣ, h/. 5 initial consonants have differences, including: /β, v, z, ʐ, r, j/. Vietnamese in Mukdahan does not have the consonants /v, z, ʐ/ while the Central Vietnam dialect does not have the consonants /β, r/. Based on the comparison results between the initial consonant system of Vietnamese in Mukdahan and the Northern Vietnam dialect, there are 17 initial consonants with similarities: /ɓ, m, th, t, ɗ, n, c, ɲ, k, ŋ, Ɂ, f, s, l, χ, ɣ, h/. 7 initial consonants have differences, including: /β, v, z, r, ʈ, ʂ, j/. When vowel and ending sound combine into syllable, it can be divided into four types of syllable: 1) Open syllables are the syllables that end with a vowel, there are 12 open syllables. 2) Half-open syllables are the syllables that end with ending sounds /-w, -j/, there are 19 half-open syllables. 3) Half-closed syllables are the syllables that end with ending sounds /-m, n, -ŋ/, there are 40 half-closed syllables. 4) Closed syllables are the syllables that end with ending sounds /-p, -t, -k/, there are 40 closed syllables. Compared with the Central Vietnam dialect, Vietnamese in Mukdahan does not have ancient syllables [iŋ, eŋ, ɛŋ, uŋ, o:ŋ, ͻ:ŋ, ik, ek, ɛk, uk, ok, ͻk] and labialization syllables [uŋm, oŋm, ͻ̆ŋm, ukp, okp, ͻ̆kp]. Hence, the thesis can also predict changing trends, provide more information for teaching and learning Vietnamese locally, and contribute to maintaining and protecting the Vietnamese language and culture in the Vietnamese community in Mukdahan in particular and in Thailand in general.

Hence, the thesis can also predict changing trends, provide more information for teaching and learning Vietnamese locally, and contribute to maintaining and protecting the Vietnamese language and culture in the Vietnamese community in Mukdahan in particular and in Thailand in general.
