2. Objectives of the training program
2.1. General Objectives
The master's program in Literary Theory aims to train human resources with a solid and in-depth understanding of literary theory in particular and theory in general, proficient in their profession (teaching, research, or working in the fields of journalism, publishing, social sciences and humanities), and capable of generalizing issues of social practice.
2.2. Specific Objectives
- To provide human resources with solid theoretical knowledge and a firm grasp of specific research methods so that they can apply them to literary and social practice;
- The Master's program in Literary Theory aims to train individuals with research methods and practical literary research skills based on the understanding of fundamental theories, enabling students to adapt to jobs related to the humanities in general;
- To create a professional foundation so that students can continue their studies in doctoral programs in Literature;
- The training program aims to equip students with the skills to work in various professional fields related to literature and social sciences in general, from research at specialized research institutes; teaching literature (at different educational levels and training formats); working in press and publishing agencies and cultural management agencies related to literature;
- The Master's program in Literary Theory aims to train a workforce capable of conducting in-depth research as follows:
+ Conduct in-depth research on phenomena in Vietnamese literature (including authors, groups of authors, trends, movements, schools, etc.) in the past as well as in the present;
+ Applying modern knowledge and methods to examine theoretical issues in literature and literary criticism in general;
+ Comparative literature studies among different ethnic groups reveal specific patterns of development and general issues within the field of social sciences.
3. Admission Information:
3.1. Admission methods
- The entrance exam includes the following subjects:
+ Basic subject: Literary Theory
+ Basic subject: Vietnamese Literature
+ Foreign Language: one of the following five languages: English, Russian, French, German, or Chinese.
3.2. Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates applying for the Master's program in Literary Theory must meet all of the following conditions:
+ Has a clean personal record and is not currently under criminal investigation;
+ Possess a university degree in Literature or Literature Education, with no work experience required; or possess a university degree in a field closely related to Literature, having completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Literature.
