2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General Objectives

The Master's program in Vietnamese Cultural History aims to provide graduates with fundamental, modern knowledge and in-depth methodology in history and culture, enabling them to conduct independent research and organize research, and to effectively work in the field of cultural history, contributing to the provision of high-quality human resources for the country in the context of integration and globalization.

2.2 Specific Objectives:

- To provide fundamental and systematic knowledge about Vietnamese cultural history, and to enhance the ability to apply research to practical socio-cultural history;

- To provide fundamental knowledge and a systematic approach to specialized and interdisciplinary research methods in history and culture, meeting the requirements for studying traditional and contemporary culture in the era of cultural integration;

- They can utilize their abilities in fields related to history and culture within educational institutions, scientific research agencies, and departments involved in teaching, scientific research, and practical activities.

3. Admission Information

- Entrance exam subjects:

  • Basic Examination Subject: Methodology of Historical Studies;
  • Foundation subject: Vietnamese History;
  • Foreign Language: One of five languages: English, Russian, French, German, or Chinese;

- Eligibility requirements: Applicants for the master's degree program must meet all of the following conditions:

+ Has a clean personal record and is not currently under criminal investigation;

+ Possess a university degree in a field directly related to (or relevant to) Vietnamese Cultural History; or possess a regular university degree in a field closely related to Vietnamese Cultural History, having completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in the field for which the exam is being applied.

+ Must be in good health to study;

+ Submit all required documents, certificates, papers, and examination fees in full, correctly, and on time, as stipulated by Hanoi National University and the training unit.

- List of related fields and fields suitable for the proposed field or specialization for which training is permitted:

+ Related fields are those where 60-90% of the course modules overlap with the History program, such as Philosophy, Oriental Studies, International Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Political Science, Archival Studies, and Anthropology;

+ Suitable majors include History majors at universities nationwide, or majors with at least 90% of their coursework overlapping with the History program.
