Introduction to USSH's Quality Assurance Activities

With a mission to be at the forefront of training high-quality, highly skilled human resources; researching, creating, and disseminating knowledge in social sciences and humanities to serve the cause of national construction, defense, and international integration, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has early on focused on implementing quality assurance. The Center for Educational Quality Assurance was established in August 2006 according to Decision No. 1784/QD-XHNV-TC dated August 21, 2006, of the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The University is the first member of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to have a dedicated unit for quality assurance.

Quality Assurance Policy Statement
The Rector, along with all staff, lecturers, and employees of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, hereby declares:Ensuring quality and conducting reviews to continuously improve and enhance the quality of training, scientific research, and community service activities in order to fulfill the stated mission.
The quality assurance policy focuses on the following aspects:
- Implement training, scientific research, and community service activities in accordance with the School's Mission Statement, Vision, Core Values, and Educational Philosophy.
- Ensuring the quality of student output, scientific research products, and community service products.
- Proactively conduct periodic reviews to improve and enhance the quality and effectiveness of training, scientific research, and community service activities, in order to continue affirming our leading position in the country while gradually achieving regional and global standards in the field of social sciences and humanities.
Commitment to quality assurance
- Accountability: Regularly disclose performance indicators and other explanatory information as required by law.
- Effectiveness: Ensuring alignment between strategy and implementation plans; a management system that promotes employee performance; and allocation of funds that is compatible with work efficiency.
- Objectivity: Conduct self-assessment of quality based on criteria and independent accreditation bodies; evaluate operational effectiveness through benchmarking both domestically and internationally.
- Continuous improvement: Conduct continuous review and improvement, and enhance the application of information technology in all areas of operation.
Quality assurance framework
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, refers to the AUN-QA internal quality assurance model, in which the four elements of the internal quality assurance system include: Monitoring tools, Evaluation tools, Quality assurance processes, and Quality assurance tools.

The internal quality assurance mechanism of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is structured in sections, in accordance with the established quality assurance framework, to evaluate the following areas of activity:
- The quality of the training program and course modules.
- Quality of the teaching staff and support personnel.
- Quality of teaching methods.
- The quality of student assessment and evaluation.
- Quality of services supporting learners.
- Quality of resources and infrastructure.
- Quality of scientific research.
- Quality of service provided to the community.
Quality assurance cycle
To implement continuous review and improvement, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has adopted a quality management cycle comprising four steps at all levels and scales of operation: Planning (Plan), Doing (Do), Checking (Check), and Action (Action), abbreviated as the PDCA cycle.
Quality inspection results
- In 2022, the school completed the second cycle of educational institution quality assessment and was certified as meeting the quality standards for educational institutions according to the quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- By the end of 2023, 86% of undergraduate programs had been accredited and met quality standards according to the quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and AUN-QA; the plan is that by the end of 2024, 100% of eligible undergraduate programs will have completed external evaluation according to the quality standards recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
