Demand for information and library personnel

In the context of global and national digital transformation, information centers, libraries, agencies, organizations, businesses, and communities all need an efficient information and library system to support decision-making by leaders and managers, to serve scientific research and learning, to expand knowledge, and to enhance the understanding of society as a whole. The need for information and library human resources is becoming more urgent than ever.
The philosopher Francis Bacon once said, "Knowledge is power," emphasizing the importance of accessing and utilizing information in all aspects of life. Information is an unlimited resource for humanity; without it, human development is impossible. Therefore, whoever possesses accurate, complete, and timely information will be the winner.
To enable users to effectively access and utilize information, the bridging role of information and library professionals is indispensable. The field of information and library science trains graduates with proficient professional skills in information and library operations; possessing comprehensive theoretical knowledge and a thorough understanding of information processes within information and library institutions; capable of organizing and creating information resources, processing information, developing specialized information products and services; and organizing, managing, and operating information and library institutions.

The Information and Library Science program at VNU-USSH is both in-depth and interdisciplinary, with a high degree of practical application.

The objective of the Information and Library Science program at VNU-USSH is to train graduates with proficient professional skills in information and library activities; possessing comprehensive professional theory and a thorough understanding of information processes in information and library institutions; capable of organizing and creating information resources, processing information, developing specialized information products and services; and organizing, managing, and operating information and library institutions.
In addition to knowledge of information, information management, and library science, the curriculum also equips learners with up-to-date, modern knowledge to meet the needs of society in the context of the ongoing digital transformation: information and library marketing; multimedia information, digital libraries, etc.

The job market for information and library professionals will primarily consist of state agencies and organizations in both the public and private sectors. They may work in information and library centers of agencies, organizations, and businesses. Graduates in Information and Library Science can perform tasks such as building information resources, processing information and data, developing information and library products, organizing information retrieval systems, organizing and preserving documents, organizing information services, conducting marketing activities in the information and library field, applying information technology to information and library agencies; organizing and managing records and documents for administrative and office work in agencies and organizations; managing and supporting the application of IT in agencies and organizations; providing information consulting and information retrieval services to clients; and analyzing information and data. Career opportunities include becoming a lecturer at educational institutions specializing in Information and Library Science; Information Management; and interdisciplinary sciences.
