PART I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM

2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General Objectives

The undergraduate journalism program aims to train human resources with sufficient knowledge, skills, autonomy, and responsibility necessary in the field of journalism and media, meeting the requirements of employers and contributing to the modernization of the country in the new context.

2.2. Specific Objectives

- The undergraduate journalism program applies advanced teaching methods to train journalism graduates with a solid foundation of basic knowledge, especially a broad and deep understanding of social sciences and humanities, proficient operational skills, and the ability to create high-quality journalistic products for various genres and types of journalism;

- The program also aims to train journalism graduates with the skills to work on a diverse range of media products (from journalism, PR-advertising, multimedia to media management), and with the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to the digital transformation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the field of media.

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Regarding knowledge

PLO 01. Applying knowledge of political theory and law in professional activities, research, and practice;

PLO 02. Utilize knowledge of information technology to meet job requirements;

PLO 03. Able to apply basic knowledge of social sciences and humanities to learning and research, as well as apply knowledge of natural sciences to analyze and evaluate social science materials, adapting to the era of Industry 4.0;

PLO 04. Applying professional knowledge to create products and perform professional work in journalism and media for various media platforms and types;

PLO 05. Evaluate the successes and limitations of journalistic products and activities based on theoretical frameworks and scientific methods.

2. Regarding skills

2.1. Professional skills

PLO 06. Proficient in using media and related software for journalistic work;

PLO 07. Capable of collecting, searching, evaluating, and analyzing information using various methods;

PLO 08. Capable of identifying, recognizing, critically analyzing, and expressing opinions on current issues, and proposing and implementing solutions to problems related to their expertise.

2.2. Supplementary Skills

PLO 09. Skills in leading and supervising the work of others in a work team, building organizational culture in the workplace, developing an entrepreneurial mindset to create jobs for oneself and others;

PLO 10. Able to use a foreign language at level B1, equivalent to level 3 (according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam) as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University.

3. Level of autonomy and responsibility

PLO 11. Working independently or in teams under changing work conditions, taking personal and team responsibility in the field of journalism;

PLO 12. Instruct and supervise others in performing specific tasks within their assigned area of ​​expertise;

PLO 14. Planning, coordinating, managing resources, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of activities in the professional field of journalism.

4. Job positions that students can take on after graduation.

Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism are capable of performing the following responsibilities:

+ Reporters and editors at newspapers, magazines, news agencies, radio stations, television stations, online newspapers, press representative offices in localities inside and outside the country, and representative offices of foreign news agencies in Vietnam;

+ Officials and specialists in journalism and media at agencies responsible for leading and managing press information from the central to local levels;

+ Officials and specialists in journalism, media, and public relations at the Communications, External Relations, and Development Cooperation departments of political and social organizations, corporations, businesses, and NGOs, both domestic and international;

+ Research and teaching staff at training and scientific research institutions specializing in journalism and mass media;

+ Starting a business, developing, establishing, and running media companies, creating jobs for myself and many others.

5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.

Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism can pursue Master's degree programs in Journalism, Public Relations, and other related or suitable fields within the system of disciplines currently permitted for training by the Ministry of Education and Training. In some exceptionally outstanding cases, they may be eligible to continue their studies at the doctoral level if they meet the requirements of the training regulations.
