Vietnamese Studies is one of the oldest majors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. With 55 years of tradition and development, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language has truly become the focal point for organizing training and research activities on Vietnamese Studies in an interdisciplinary, regional and Vietnamese Language and Culture training direction for foreigners, closely linked with units inside and outside the school to promote the multidisciplinary and multi-field strengths of the school.
Với gần 30 giảng viên cơ hữu là các Giáo sư, Phó giáo sư, Tiến sĩ, Khoa còn có sự hợp tác giảng dạy của đông đảo các giảng viên là những nhà khoa học, chuyên gia hàng đầu về VNH từ các trường đại học, viện nghiên cứu trong nước. Đặc biệt, Khoa thường xuyên mời các chuyên gia hàng đầu về VNH trong nước và quốc tế đến nói chuyện chuyên đề, tạo cơ cho sinh viên tiếp cận với các vấn đề nổi bật của VNH trong nước và trên thế giới trong bối cảnh phát triển và hội nhập toàn cầu hiện nay.
In addition, during their studies at the Faculty, students also have the opportunity to learn and exchange with international students from dozens of countries who are studying Vietnamese, as well as postgraduates who come to conduct field research in Vietnam. More than 10,000 foreigners have studied Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture at the Faculty as well as with the Faculty's teachers at many universities and Vietnamese studies centers around the world.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with a core team of experts from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, has coordinated with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a framework for training, teaching and granting Vietnamese language teaching certificates to hundreds of overseas Vietnamese teachers participating in courses organized in person and online. In addition, VNU is the only public university that has been carrying out the national mission of launching a Vietnamese language teaching channel for overseas Vietnamese since 2022 and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is honored to be the core unit carrying out this task. Up to now, the School has organized more than 150 Vietnamese language classes for overseas Vietnamese from elementary to advanced levels, serving nearly thousands of overseas Vietnamese from 23 countries and territories around the world: Laos, Singapore, England, Germany, France, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, Hungary, Switzerland, Taiwan, Canada, America, Australia, Japan, Korea, China, Philippines...
Trường ĐH KHXH&NV, ĐHQGHN (VNU-USSH) tham gia tại lễ phát động “Ngày tôn vinh tiếng Việt” và cuộc thi “Tìm kiếm Sứ giả tiếng Việt ở nước ngoài năm 2025” do Ủy ban Nhà nước về người Việt Nam ở nước ngoài (NVNONN) thuộc Bộ Ngoại giao đã tổ chức chiều ngày 29/3/2025 tại Hà Nội.
Chương trình “Xin chào Việt Nam” do Khoa Việt Nam học và Tiếng Việt hợp tác với VTV4 – Kênh truyền hình đối ngoại của Đài truyền hình Việt Nam – thực hiện sang năm thứ 4 với hiệu ứng lan tỏa tiếng Việt tích cực trong cộng đồng người nước ngoài và người Việt Nam ở nước ngoài.
Chương trình đào tạo chuyên sâu, liên ngành và hội nhập
Ngành Việt Nam học mục tiêu đào tạo ra các chuyên gia có phông kiến thức rộng về đất nước, con người Việt Nam, biết làm việc trong môi trường liên ngành và sử dụng thành thạo các kỹ năng nghiên cứu đa ngành, liên ngành, tìm ra các đặc trưng của từng không gian văn hoá – xã hội cụ thể phục vụ chiến lược phát triển kinh tế, xã hội, văn hoá Việt Nam.
Trong những năm qua, đào tạo Việt Nam học không chỉ đáp ứng nhu cầu về nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao trong nước mà còn góp phần đào tạo một số lượng đáng kể các chuyên gia Việt Nam học của nhiều quốc gia, tổ chức quốc tế trên thế giới. Trong bối cảnh phát triển và hội nhập toàn cầu, nghiên cứu và đào tạo về Việt Nam đã trở thành nhu cầu cấp thiết, một mặt đối với sự phát triển và hội nhập của Việt Nam, mặt khác đối với quá trình đầu tư và hợp tác của các nước và các tổ chức quốc tế với Việt Nam.
Ngoài ra, các bạn sinh viên khi theo học ngành Việt Nam học sẽ có cơ hội tìm hiểu và mở rộng mối quan hệ với bạn bè quốc tế ở những nền văn hoá khác nhau. Khoa có môi trường đặc biệt với số lượng lớn học viên nước ngoài, tạo môi trường giao lưu, học hỏi, trau dồi thêm ngoại ngữ và vốn kiến thức văn hóa đa dạng cho các sinh viên trong Khoa cũng như tổ chức các buổi gặp gỡ, giao lưu với nhà tuyển dụng và các nhân vật có tầm ảnh hưởng nhằm tạo cơ hội kết nối, giao lưu và định hướng nghề nghiệp.
Các hoạt động trải nghiệm, thực tế đến các danh lam thắng cảnh, địa điểm lịch sử, văn hoá, du lịch nổi tiếng, hay “Ngày hội Văn hóa quốc tế” thường niên vào mỗi dịp đón mừng năm mới để sinh viên Việt Nam và các bạn học viên nước ngoài đang học tập tại Khoa có dịp được giao lưu tìm hiểu văn hóa, ẩm thực, nghệ thuật của các nước khác nhau.

Vì vậy, đến với Khoa Việt Nam học và Tiếng Việt của VNU-USSH sinh viên sẽ được học tập trong môi trường chuyên sâu, bài bản, nhưng cũng hiện đại, năng động và hội nhập quốc tế. Sinh viên Khoa VNH&TV luôn tiên phong trong các phong trào hoạt động Đoàn - Hội, với nhiều CLB phong phú cũng Đoàn Thanh niên - Hội sinh viên Nhà trường cũng như các CLB rmang màu sắc iêng của Khoa: CLB Sứ giả văn hóa - CMC với các hoạt động hỗ trợ, các cuộc Vào bếp cùng CMC, Cuộc thi viết Cây bút VSL, Thanh âm đất Việt,....

Students of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language are always pioneers in Youth Union and Association activities.
The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language as well as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always create conditions and encourage students to improve and develop themselves with many different types of scholarships. Over the years, the school has continuously promoted cooperation with scholarship funds, agencies, organizations, and businesses at home and abroad to bring many scholarships to students with the goal of not only providing the best learning conditions but also creating motivation for students to strive throughout their time studying at the school, such as: AEON Scholarship, Annex, Asia Development Foundation-ADF, Dao Minh Quang Award, Yamada, ... In addition, every year the Faculty also connects with partners, businesses, and benefactors to award valedictorian scholarships to new students at the Opening Ceremony of the school year.
With a rich partner system, every year, the Faculty plans and organizes concentrated and non-concentrated internships at suitable internship facilities for students with a wide variety of internship facilities such as: research institutes or diplomatic, media, and press agencies; travel or hotel companies; universities, Vietnamese language teaching centers, cultural sites and historical relics in many regions across the country.
Career counseling and connection activities to support students in finding jobs suitable to their majors and strengths are also of interest to the Faculty's Board of Directors and are regularly organized in many diverse forms.
In the past, when mentioning the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, many people often thought that students studying basic sciences would only be able to work in state agencies, historical museums, research institutes... This is true but no longer enough for the current generation of students and the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies.
Coming to the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, students will not only learn simple in-depth knowledge about the country, culture, people, and society of Vietnam, but also be trained in the necessary skills to create conditions for them to have multi-dimensional views on current issues and conditions in Vietnam. These are the necessary skills not only for future jobs but also necessary life skills in modern society.
With a comprehensive and general training background, students after graduation will have many career opportunities not only working in public organizations and state management agencies but also working for international organizations that cooperate and exchange with Vietnam. In addition, with the trend of globalization and integration, you are the core factors with the opportunity to be recruited into the department specializing in Vietnam relations in foreign economic, diplomatic, educational and media agencies.
