PART I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM

2. Objectives of the training program

2.1 General Objectives

The undergraduate Sociology program aims to train high-quality human resources, specifically Sociology graduates, equipped with fundamental knowledge of social sciences, a solid foundation in sociological theory and research methods to understand and participate in solving social problems at the local, national, and global levels, as well as professional skills including research, critical thinking, communication, organization, supervision, and management of professional work, and technological competence in data analysis, foreign language proficiency, innovation, and entrepreneurship. As a result, upon graduation, students will become dynamic, responsible citizens with critical thinking skills and communication abilities to adapt and succeed in diverse work environments, meeting the demands of internationalization and the application of scientific and technological advancements, and capable of lifelong learning regardless of their chosen career path.

2.2 Specific Objectives

- The training program equips learners with fundamental knowledge of social sciences and in-depth knowledge of sociology to explain or analyze complex social issues at the local, national, and global levels based on critical thinking, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurship; thereby enabling them to propose creative solutions to address social problems, contributing to promoting social development and equity;

- The training program helps learners develop solid sociological research skills, learn how to collect data, apply AI and technology to process and analyze data as a basis for solving specific social problems and making decisions based on factual evidence, ensuring scientific integrity and research ethics;

- The training program helps learners develop a strong sense of social responsibility through the ability to work independently and effectively in teams, the ability to organize, supervise, and manage professional work to ensure quality and progress, the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in work situations, sufficient foreign language proficiency to communicate confidently in daily situations and in an international integration environment, and a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Regarding knowledge

PLO 01: Applying basic knowledge of political theory, philosophy, economics, sociology, law, and technology to understand and address academic and real-life issues in the contemporary context;

PLO 02: Applying fundamental knowledge of academic standards, professional ethics, creative thinking, design thinking, entrepreneurship, information technology, and AI tools to analyze and solve professional and life problems in the context of the digital age;

PLO 03: Able to apply basic concepts, theories, methods, and knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities to conduct research and perform professional activities;

PLO 04: Able to apply sociological theories and research methods to critically explain or analyze complex social issues related to social policy, social problems in rural and urban areas, in the fields of family and gender, environment, culture, education, and population, thereby developing practical and creative solutions to address social problems in the context of the rapidly changing modern society;

PLO 05: Apply sociological theories and data collection and processing techniques to explain or analyze social issues in the student's chosen specialized field within the group of sociological disciplines including mass media and public opinion, religion, health, science and technology, politics and management, law and crime, youth, tourism, population, family and development.

2. Regarding skills

PLO 06: Able to combine sociological research methods and data collection and processing technologies, and present research results in the field of sociology on diverse and complex contemporary social issues in the world and in Vietnam;

PLO 07: Develop critical thinking skills when receiving information and learning about diverse and complex life situations and social issues;

PLO 08: Able to use clear and professional communication skills in work situations, conveying knowledge and skills in performing specific or complex tasks;

PLO 09: Proficiency in academic English in the social sciences and humanities in academic and professional environments at level B1, equivalent to level 3 (according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework used in Vietnam) as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University.

3. Level of autonomy and responsibility

PLO 10: Develop habits of self-learning, self-research, and lifelong learning. Be capable of working independently and collaboratively in teams to manage and supervise professional work, ensuring quality and timely completion;

PLO 11: Establish plans, coordinate, monitor, and manage professional work to ensure quality and timely completion;

PLO 12: Apply professional ethical principles correctly when participating in research projects, avoid fraud, plagiarism, and other dishonest practices, and responsibly protect and secure research data.

4. Job positions that students can take on after graduation.

Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities possess the knowledge and skills to develop careers in a wide range of fields, including (but not limited to):

- Researchers in research institutes, market research organizations, and research centers focusing on social issues, demographics, public policy, and development;

- Data analyst;

- Sociology lecturer: teaching at universities, colleges, or training institutions specializing in sociology or related fields;

- Social worker or social project coordinator: working with disadvantaged individuals, groups, or communities, or managing and coordinating community development projects;

- Editors, journalists, social media specialists: working for media and press organizations;

- Human Resources Consultant and Manager: Human resources consultant (providing consulting services on human resources management, organizational culture building, and addressing behavioral and motivational issues in the workplace), human resources manager in any organization (developing and implementing human resources management programs);

- Policy analyst for government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and community organizations;

- Market research specialist in businesses or business organizations.

5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.

Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology have the opportunity and ability to pursue further studies at the Master's and Doctoral levels in Sociology, and to transfer to several higher-level disciplines, such as: Social Work, Anthropology, Psychology and Clinical Psychology, Management Science, Public Policy, Political Science, Journalism and Media Management (Applied), Cultural Studies, Asian Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Tourism Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, International Relations, Archival Studies, History, and the Theory and History of Film and Television.

Graduates with a bachelor's degree in Sociology can participate in short-term training programs to develop professional skills or enhance their expertise during their work.
