In mid-July 2026, the Working Group of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, held a series of important meetings with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Culture and Sports (CST) of Hue City to connect and propose applied research and knowledge transfer tasks for the period 2026-2030.

At the working session with the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Duong Anh - Deputy Director of the Department - emphasized the "three-party" collaboration model (State, scientists, and businesses) and prioritized research orientation towards practical applications to solve local socio-economic development problems. These science and technology tasks encompass many fields related to social sciences and humanities, such as the Smart City Project, smart heritage, digital government, cultural industry, and educational technology. Currently, the Hue City Government has announced and is collecting opinions and registrations for cooperation on these projects on the Hue Three-Party Information Portal.https://3nha.hue.gov.vn/After hearing the introduction and proposals from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, representing the university's leadership, the representative of the Department of Science and Technology affirmed their readiness to provide funding of up to 2 billion VND for research projects by USSH scientists. They also encouraged the university to proactively propose pilot training programs on the digital competency framework for education staff through direct support mechanisms from the local government or international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB, and UNDP.

Within the framework of the program, the Task Force also held a working session with the Hue City Department of Culture and Tourism on the cultural development strategy for the period 2026-2030, an area for which Hue has allocated 3% of its budget for implementation in the coming years. Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Le Minh Nhan, emphasized that the locality urgently needs scientists to participate in building the legal framework, scientific basis, and specific policies to realize these goals. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong affirmed that, with their extensive academic experience, USSH experts will contribute important advisory voices to Hue City's cultural strategy, especially in key areas such as the digitization of heritage and the preservation of heritage against the negative impacts of natural disasters and climate change. The working group also proposed that Hue City provide a mechanism for USSH scientists to participate with the locality right from the project and plan development stage of science and technology tasks in order to best utilize the professional role of the scientists.

This trip opens up great prospects for connecting VNU-USSH's theoretical research with the practical development of the country's economy, culture, and society, shaping the University's pioneering position in policy making and cultural industry development for Hue City and other national heritage centers.
