The explosion of television programs, especially talk shows and reality TV in recent years, has made ordinary people an integral part of many programs. The private lives of individuals are "television-based," creating a special appeal for these shows.
Besides the clear values and benefits that this collaboration brings to program producers and participants, there is also much debate surrounding privacy, publicity, and the level of consent required from all parties when sharing stories in front of the camera.
From a professional ethics perspective and based on his research findings and experience, Professor Richard Kilborn, Emeritus Professor, Department of Communication and Culture, University of Stirling (UK), will give a thematic discussion on this "agreement".
