Mr. Nguyen Huy Cuong, M.Sc. - Institute of Quality Assurance, is speaking at the conference.resolution
The program, organized by the Center for Training Quality Assurance (CQA) in collaboration with the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Literature, aims to guide faculty and staff on the process of implementing a self-assessment plan for the high-quality Bachelor of Literature program, focusing on evaluating the current quality and improving and enhancing the program's quality.
As the final program in the first group of three high-quality training programs (Literature, Philosophy, and Management Science) of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities implementing the self-assessment plan, the training session for faculty members of the Literature Department took place in a serious and open working atmosphere. The conference had three important tasks: introducing the VNU Hanoi's Quality Accreditation Standards for Training Programs, sharing experiences and some notes on the process of writing self-assessment reports on training program quality, and interspersed with exchanges and discussions between experts and participating faculty members.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Cuong, a mandatory requirement in the self-assessment process is to comply with the 15 standards with 68 criteria on the 7-point scale of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This includes prominent content on the learning outcomes of the training program, the program description, and feedback and evaluations from students, alumni, current faculty members, and employers. Mr. Cuong also emphasized that providing evidence of the implementation process is crucial, because work without proof will not be recognized.
Responding to questions from faculty members of the Literature Department regarding the role of each staff member and lecturer in the self-assessment report of the training program and concerns about the objectivity of the self-assessment, Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu - Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center - clarified the supportive role of the University's Quality Assurance team after the self-assessment process; and affirmed the mandatory nature of participation in the self-assessment report by staff and lecturers of the departments.
In addition, Ms. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh, M.Sc., from the Organization and Personnel Department, shared that the training focused on familiarizing oneself with the set of standards to prepare the self-assessment report that must be submitted at the beginning of October.
During the experience sharing and report writing guidance session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chi Hoa emphasized the following: the evaluation of training programs must have consensus among faculty members before being submitted for external evaluation. When scoring training programs, appropriateness must be considered. A faculty report needs someone to compile, unify, and review it.
Besides meticulously explaining the steps in the curriculum evaluation process, Associate Professor Hoa also emphasized that when writing the report, the curriculum description must have clear evidence, assess strengths as well as weaknesses, and identify areas for improvement according to a specific schedule. He also affirmed that collecting, verifying, and defending evidence to compile the report requires careful attention to detail, and he believes the Faculty of Literature can excel in these areas. Professor Hoa also pointed out that in evaluating teaching quality, the Faculty of Literature has a significant advantage in terms of facilities thanks to its rich documentation system, which helps to provide effective student counseling and support.
The timeframe for completing the Self-Assessment Report on the Quality of Training Programs is 19 weeks. Specific instructions on how to write the report will be provided in more detail by experts from the Center for Training Quality Assurance.
