On March 1, 2010, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - received an honorary doctorate in Science and Technology Innovation Management from Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (Thailand).
On March 1, 2010, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - received an honorary doctorate in Science and Technology Innovation Management from Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (Thailand).
He is the only Vietnamese and one of six foreign scholars to be awarded an honorary doctorate by Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in this round. The Crown Prince of Thailand personally presented the degree and congratulated the scholars.

After introducing some aspects of research and training in Thai Studies in Vietnam, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh expressed his desire to cooperate with Thai universities to develop many fields of mutual interest such as Vietnamese Studies, Thai Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, and Asian Studies. He also supported the idea of Rector Supol Wuthisen to establish a network of universities in the region to jointly research and exchange students in the field of Southeast Asian Studies.
Along with the representative from Vietnam, five other scholars received honorary doctorates: Dr. Chae Chamroeun – President of Chamroeun University (Cambodia), Dr. Gao Yubao – President of Tianjin Normal University (China), Ms. Monthida Sitathani - Minister of Science and Technology of Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soukkongseng Saignaleuth – President of the National University of Laos, and Dr. Jose Sulaiman Chagnon – Director of the World Boxing Council (Mexico). This activity aims to recognize and honor talented individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development and cooperation of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in particular and Thailand in general.
Professor Nguyen Van Khanh is the second Vietnamese person to receive an honorary doctorate from your university. Previously, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was the first Vietnamese person to receive an honorary doctorate from Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in August 2008.
During this visit to Thailand, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh, along with delegates from many countries, participated in a workshop discussing cooperation in building and developing Southeast Asian studies at universities in the region.

Every year, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University sends delegations of staff and students to exchange experiences and participate in several short-term courses at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Currently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has two postgraduate students studying at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, and it is expected that four more students will be trained there in the near future.
