The predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi was the Hanoi University of Letters (established by decree).
No. 45 signed by President Ho Chi Minh on October 10, 1945), followed by Hanoi University of Science (established on June 5, 1956). On December 10, 1993, the Prime Minister
issued Decree 97/CP to establish Hanoi National University, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, established on the basis of faculties
Social Sciences of Hanoi University of Science.
Over the past 70 years of construction and development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has always played the role of the leading center for basic science research and training in the country, effectively serving the cause of national construction and defense. The achievements in training and scientific research of the University have been recognized by the State with noble titles: First-class Labor Medal (1981), First-class Independence Medal (2001), Labor Hero title in the renovation period (2005), Ho Chi Minh Medal (2010); 10 teachers were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize, 16 teachers were awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology, 25 teachers were awarded the title of People's Teacher and 56 teachers were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher.
