Signing of letter of intent to establish JGU-Indian Studies Center at USSH

On October 1st, 2018, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and representatives of Faculty of Oriental Studies, and Office for Cooperation and Cooperation welcomed and worked with the delegation from Jindal Global University (India) led by Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni (Principal Director of Jindal Institute of Behavioral Sciences).

Rector Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced about USSH. Established in 1945, it is currently the leading university in Vietnam in terms of social sciences and humanities. It offers 24 bachelor's programs, 40 master's programs and 31 doctoral programs, ranging from basic sciences such as History, Literature, Sino-Nom, Linguistics and Philosophy to applied majors such as Journalism, Public relations, Hotel and Tourism Management, and Social work. USSH's Faculty of Oriental Studies, offering Indian studies, currently hosts the largest number of students.

On behalf of Jindal Global University, Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni said it is one of the few Indian non-profit universities focusing largely on social sciences and humanities. It currently aims to extend cooperation with its Eastern partners, including Vietnam. Therefore, the establishment of JGU-Indian Studies Center at USSH is necessary. He also hoped the two sides would extend cooperation to other activities such as exchanging students, lecturers, and especially research fellows. Jindal Global University also promised to offer two grants for USSH's potential research fellows.

Next, the two leaders signed on the Letter of Intent for the foundation of the JGU-Indian Studies Center at USSH. As planned, in the future a center specializing in Vietnamese studies will be founded at Jindal Global University.

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global university established by the Government of Haryana and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). JGU was established in 2009 as a philanthropic initiative of its Founding Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal in memory of his father, Mr. O.P. Jindal. JGU has been awarded the highest grade 'A' by the National Accreditation & Assessment Council (NAAC). It currently consists of 8 schools, namely Global Law School, Global Business School, School of International Affairs, School of Government and Public Policy, School of Liberal Arts & Humanities, School of Journalism & Communication, School of Art & Architecture, and School of Banking and Finance
