- The overview of the research situation shows that, to date, no comprehensive, systematic, and thorough study has been conducted on the economic and social changes in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018. Therefore, the approach of this thesis is unique and independent of any previously published research and theses.
- Clarify the economic and social transformations in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018 in relation to the country's reform process, the reform process of Ha Son Binh province (1986-1991), Ha Tay province (1991-2008), and Hanoi city (2009-2018). The economic and social transformations in Ha Dong went through two periods: 1986-2008 and 2009-2018. The transformation process was linked to administrative boundary adjustments, industrialization, modernization, re-urbanization, and urban expansion.
- Economic and social changes interact with each other, stemming from both subjective and objective causes, creating both achievements and limitations. In the coming period, Ha Dong needs to capitalize on advantages, overcome difficulties, and propose directions and solutions for more sustainable economic and social development.

This dissertation provides theoretical and practical insights into the economic and social transformation in Ha Dong (1986-2018), serving as a basis for the government and specialized agencies to summarize and evaluate the economic and social development process in Ha Dong (1986-2018); and to propose policies and measures for economic and social development in Ha Dong in the coming years. The dissertation can be used as a reference for research, teaching, and learning about economic and social transformation during the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, industrialization, modernization, and urbanization in a specific locality. The dissertation collects rich and diverse source materials on the economy and society of Ha Dong (1986-2018), contributing to the understanding of history in general and the economy and society of Ha Dong in particular during the Doi Moi period.
13. Further research directions (if any): It is possible to conduct in-depth research on each area within the economic or social structure of Ha Dong district from 1986 to 2018. Building upon this thesis, research could also be conducted on the transformation of the socio-economic structure of Hanoi or other cities in Vietnam during the same period.

- The literature review unveils that there has not been a complete, systematic, and comprehensive study of economic and social change in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018. Therefore, the thesis is new and novel from published studies and dissertations.
- This study is to explore the socio-economic changes in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018 in the context of Vietnam's reform, Ha Son Binh province (1986-1991), Ha Tay province (1991-2008), the city of Ha Dong and Hanoi City (2009-2018). Economic and social change in Ha Dong went through two periods 1986-2008 and 2009-2018. The process is associated with boundary adjustment, industrialization, modernization, re-urbanization, and expanded urbanization.
- Economic and social changes intertwine, originating from subjective and objective causes, thus resulting in some achievements and limitations. In the future, Ha Dong needs to promote advantages, overcome difficulties, set out orientations and solutions for the economy and society to develop more sustainable.
