- Through the overview of the research situation, it can be seen that up to now, there has been no complete, systematic and comprehensive research on economic and social changes in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018. Therefore, the approach of the thesis does not overlap and is independent from the published research works and theses.
- Clarifying the economic and social changes in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018 associated with the renovation process of the country, Ha Son Binh province (1986-1991), Ha Tay province (1991-2008) and Hanoi city (2009-2018). The economic and social changes in Ha Dong went through two stages: 1986-2008 and 2009-2018. The transformation process was associated with administrative boundary adjustment, industrialization, modernization, re-urbanization and expanded urbanization.
- Economic and social changes impact each other, stemming from subjective and objective causes, creating achievements and limitations. In the coming time, Ha Dong needs to promote advantages, overcome difficulties, and propose orientations and solutions for the economy and society to continue to develop more sustainably.

The thesis provides theory and practice on economic and social changes in Ha Dong (1986-2018), which is the basis for the government and professional agencies to summarize and evaluate the process of economic and social development in Ha Dong (1986-2018); propose policies and measures for economic and social development in Ha Dong in the following years. The thesis can be used as a reference for research, teaching and learning on economic and social changes in the renovation period, on industrialization, modernization and urbanization in a specific locality. The thesis collects rich and diverse sources of documents on the economy and society of Ha Dong (1986-2018), contributing to the study of history in general and the economy and society of Ha Dong in particular during the renovation period.

Based on the inheritance of the thesis, it is possible to study the changes in the economic and social structure of the capital Hanoi, or other cities in Vietnam during the same period.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
- The literature review unveils that there has not been a complete, systematic, and comprehensive study of economic and social change in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018. Therefore, the thesis is new and novel from published studies and dissertations.
- This study is to explore the socio-economic changes in Ha Dong from 1986 to 2018 in the context of Vietnam's reform, Ha Son Binh province (1986-1991), Ha Tay province (1991-2008), the city of Ha Dong and Hanoi City (2009-2018). Economic and social change in Ha Dong went through two periods 1986-2008 and 2009-2018. The process is associated with boundary adjustment, industrialization, modernization, re-urbanization, and expanded urbanization.
- Economic and social changes intertwine, originating from subjective and objective causes, thus resulting in some achievements and limitations.
