10. Summary of the thesis results:
The firstThis section provides an overview of the research problem, theoretical basis, approach, research methods, research area, and research subjects; and how the theories, approaches, and research methods were applied to the process of data collection and solving the problems posed in the thesis.
MondayThis study analyzes the current state of resources and livelihood activities of the Nung people in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province (now Bac Ninh province), with two specific research sites: Bac Hoa village in Tan Son commune and Cham Khon village in Cam Son commune. It also analyzes the factors influencing the livelihood activities of the Nung people in the research area, including: 1. State policies aimed at developing the economy and household economy; 2. Market mechanisms, opportunities for trade and exchange of goods; 3. Other factors.
TuesdayThe analysis clearly identifies the issues that have arisen and are currently facing the livelihoods of the Nung people in the research area. Based on this, several policy suggestions are proposed to develop and sustainably develop the livelihoods of the Nung people in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, such as: policies related to livelihood resources, policies aimed at developing and sustainably developing livelihood activities, including both traditional and new livelihood activities.
More specificallyRegarding agricultural livelihoods, a traditional livelihood of the Nung people in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province in particular, and the Nung people in Vietnam and many other ethnic minorities in general, livelihood activities largely depend on natural conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to research and apply some modern technical solutions to overcome these challenges; to plan lychee processing facilities, build new-style agricultural cooperatives, develop organic agriculture, provide policy support, and link the "four stakeholders - farmers, the state, businesses, and scientists" in research and application of science and technology, preservation and processing, product distribution, market connection, and the establishment of an agricultural product exchange. Regarding livestock farming, livelihood activities have undergone many changes compared to traditional methods. It is necessary to thoroughly address the root causes of disease outbreaks when repopulating pig herds after many years; combining cattle and buffalo farming with afforestation or grass cultivation for livestock feed will create a dual income source and avoid the problem of insufficient grazing land for livestock. Planning for concentrated livestock farming areas, strengthening policies to support capital investment to encourage people to restock their herds, and linking businesses to consume clean products (horses, goats, chickens, pigs, poultry, etc.). For handicrafts, research and propose solutions for preservation and restoration, creating multiple channels for product consumption, combining cultural preservation policies with the development of handicrafts to gradually become high-income and stable livelihood activities for the people... For trading and service activities, which are currently small-scale, seasonal, and mainly serve family needs, research and propose solutions to leverage the scenic advantages to develop community tourism and ecotourism, combined with increasing the value of agricultural products and creating more jobs for the Nung people in the area; Research, develop policies, and plan the development of ecotourism around Cam Son Lake; flexibly implement various tourism service business models: accommodation - homestay, sightseeing, traditional craft experiences, lychee harvesting experiences, traditional cultural experiences; provide vocational skills training, tourism management, and marketing. For hired laborers, factory workers, and other new livelihood activities, which are becoming increasingly popular, there is a need for support in vocational training, actively connecting local authorities, businesses, and workers in recruitment (providing information on labor contracts, benefits, working conditions, etc.) for the people; and research and propose recommendations linking with the Nung people's forest protection and management policies in the area.
11. Practical applicationsThe research findings of this thesis have practical applications in implementing and realizing some recommendations aimed at addressing the root causes of issues related to livelihood resources and specific livelihoods.
12. Future research directionsThe student intends to continue their studies in the doctoral program and write a dissertation on: Livelihoods of ethnic minorities in/of a commune in Bac Ninh province (today), building upon this Master's thesis to be broader, deeper, with a more diverse research subject, and using a sustainable livelihood framework to analyze more complex multidimensional impacts compared to the current dissertation.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
first, the thesis presents an overview of the research problem, theoretical basis, approaches, research methods, study area, and research subjects; and describes how theoretical frameworks, approaches, and methods were applied in the process of data collection and problem solving.
Second, it analyzes the current situation of livelihood resources and livelihood activities of the Nung people in Luc Ngan District, Bac Giang Province (currently Bac Ninh Province), with two specific survey sites: Bac Hoa Hamlet (Tan Son Commune) and Cham Khon Hamlet (Cam Son Commune). The thesis examines the factors affecting the livelihood activities of the Nung people in the study area, including: (1) State policies on economic and household economic development; (2) market mechanisms, trading and exchange capacities; and (3) other influencing factors.
Third, from this analysis, the thesis identifies the existing and emerging issues in the livelihoods of the Nung people in the study area and proposes several policy suggestions for developing and ensuring sustainable livelihoods of the Nung people in Luc Ngan District, Bac Giang Province. These include policies related to livelihood resources, and to the development and sustainability of both traditional and new livelihood activities.
ExclusiveFor cultivation,a traditional livelihood activity of the Nung people in Luc Ngan District in particular, and of many ethnic areas in Vietnam in general, which largely depends on natural conditions, it is necessary to study and apply modern technical solutions; plan lychee processing facilities; establish new-style agricultural cooperatives; develop organic agriculture; provide policy support; and strengthen linkages among the “four stakeholders” (farmers, the State, enterprises, and scientists) in research, technological application, preservation, processing, product consumption, market connection, and building agricultural trading platforms. For animal husbandry, a livelihood activity that has affected many changes compared with the traditional form, it is important to thoroughly address epidemic problems when restocking pigs after years of disruption; combine buffalo and cow raising with forest planting or grass cultivation to create dual income sources and avoid the lack of grazing land; plan to concentrate livestock zones; increase policy support and credit to encourage herd expansion; and link enterprises to consume clean products (horses, goats, chickens, pigs, poultry, etc.). For handicrafts, it is necessary to propose solutions for preservation and restoration, create product distribution channels, and combine cultural preservation policies with handicraft development so that these crafts can again become stable and profitable livelihood activities. For trade and services, which are currently small-scale and seasonal, mainly serving household needs, the thesis suggests promoting landscape advantages to develop community-based and eco-tourism services, adding value to agricultural products, and creating more jobs for the Nung people. It also proposes formulating policies and planning for eco-tourism development around Cam Son Lake, flexibly implementing various tourism business models (homestay, sightseeing, traditional craft experiences, lychee harvesting, and cultural activities), and providing training in professional, management, and marketing skills. For hired labor, factory work, and new livelihood activities, which are increasingly chosen by many people, it is necessary to support vocational training and strengthen linkages between local authorities, enterprises, and workers in recruitment (providing information on labor contracts, benefits, and working conditions). The thesis also proposes recommendations to connect these livelihood orientations with policies on forest protection and management involving the Nung community in the study area.
11. Practical applicability:The research findings can be applied in practice through the implementation of the proposed recommendations, helping address root causes of issues related to livelihood resources and specific livelihood activities.
12. Further research directions:The author intends to pursue doctoral studies onLivelihoods of Ethnic Minorities in a Commune of Bac Ninh Province, based on expanding this master's thesis in wider and deeper aspects, with more research subjects and using the sustainable livelihood framework to analyze more complex multidimensional interactions than in the current study.
