History is the study and discussion of past events, so that from the knowledge of the past, we can derive laws and lessons necessary for present and future life.
Historians are researchers who study the issues of the past to understand and reconstruct past events, then analyze, evaluate, and share their accumulated knowledge with the community. Studying history is a difficult and challenging task. Not everyone can become a historian without the necessary knowledge and passion. But becoming a good historian will give you profound knowledge, a good reputation, and respect from the community.
Established in 1956, the Faculty of History was one of the first faculties of Hanoi University, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. To date, the Faculty of History has trained over 7,000 Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral graduates both domestically and internationally, including more than 100 doctoral candidates who have successfully defended their dissertations, and nearly 300 master's students who have successfully defended their theses.
The faculty's training specializations include: Archaeology, Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History, Modern and Contemporary Vietnamese History, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Historical Theory, Anthropology, and Cultural Studies.

2. Objectives of the training program
The Bachelor of History program equips students with a fundamental knowledge system covering general subjects, specialized fields, and disciplines; basic and systematic knowledge of the historical process of Vietnam and world history; some supplementary subjects; a specialization in historical science; and historical research methods, enabling them to pursue higher education and engage in self-study to improve and enhance their professional skills.
