History specializes in researching and discussing past issues, so that from past knowledge we can draw out necessary rules and lessons for present and future life.
A historian is someone who studies past issues to understand and create past events, then analyzes, evaluates and shares the knowledge they have accumulated with the community. Researching history is a difficult and challenging job. Not everyone can become a historian, if they do not have knowledge and passion. But when you become a good historian, you will have profound knowledge, reputation and be honored by the community.
In 1956, the Faculty of History was established and was one of the first faculties of Hanoi University of Science, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Up to now, the Faculty of History has trained over 7,000 Bachelors, Masters and Doctors at home and abroad, including more than 100 PhD students who have successfully defended their PhD theses, and nearly 300 graduate students who have successfully defended their Master's theses.
The faculty's training majors: Archaeology, Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History, Modern and Modern Vietnamese History, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Historical Theory, Anthropology, Cultural Studies.

2. Objectives of the training program
The Bachelor of History training program equips students with a system of basic knowledge of subjects belonging to the general knowledge block, the knowledge block by field and the industry block; basic, systematic knowledge of the historical process of Vietnam and world history, of some supplementary subjects, of a major of historical science and historical research methods to be able to continue studying at a higher level and self-study to improve and enhance working capacity.
