2. Objectives of the training program
2.1. General Objectives
The undergraduate History program equips students with a fundamental knowledge system covering general, foundational, and core subjects; basic and systematic knowledge of Vietnamese and world history; some supplementary subjects; a specialized area of historical science; and research methods and skills to enable them to pursue higher education and self-study, helping them to improve and enhance their professional capabilities.
2.2. Specific Objectives
- Students will acquire fundamental knowledge of history and in-depth knowledge of a specialized field within historical science; they will be able to apply integrated knowledge from social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, and historical knowledge to analyze and evaluate specific historical data or issues, in order to propose solutions and develop plans for handling and resolving those data or issues; they will be able to simulate, create, and provide creative advice on products related to history and culture, meeting the goals of building culture as a resource for economic development as set forth by the Party and the State today;
- Students possess the necessary professional and supplementary skills to meet the current labor market's demand for high-quality human resources in history and culture.
- Students demonstrate a high degree of self-reliance in their studies; possess strong international integration capabilities; and demonstrate personal, collective, and community responsibility in their learning, research, and community service.

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM
1. Regarding knowledge
PLO 01: Applying basic knowledge of political theory, philosophy, economics, culture, society, and law to understand and address academic and real-life issues in the fields of history and culture in a contemporary context;
PLO 02: Applying fundamental knowledge of academic standards, professional ethics, creative thinking, design thinking, entrepreneurship, information technology, and AI tools to analyze and address issues related to history, culture, and life in the context of the digital age;
PLO 03: Applying knowledge and research methods from the social sciences and humanities to clarify issues of history, culture, and life from an interdisciplinary perspective;
PLO 04: Practical analysis of fundamental historical knowledge to design comprehensive and in-depth research projects on Vietnamese history and world history;
PLO 05: Creating and providing creative consulting services for historical and cultural products.
2. Regarding skills
PLO 06: Proficiency in a foreign language (English or Chinese) in the academic field of social sciences and humanities in a learning and professional environment at level B1, equivalent to level 3 (according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework used for Vietnam) as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University;
PLO 07: Proficient in the skills of developing essays or small-scale scientific research in the field of history in particular and social sciences and humanities in general, from identifying research questions, selecting appropriate methods, collecting and processing materials to presenting and defending research results in a coherent and persuasive manner;
PLO 08: Evaluating historical research subjects, thereby determining appropriate theories and procedures to apply in solving historical problems in practice;
PLO 09: Develop a plan for investigating and researching historical relics, and conducting archaeological excavations to serve historical research and the management, preservation, and promotion of the value of Vietnam's historical and cultural heritage;
PLO 10: Adapting to teamwork, from participation and building to leadership and team development; adapting to work environment conditions and work pressure.

- Teaching history and culture at universities, academies, colleges, and secondary schools…;
- Managing, analyzing data, and proposing policies on history, culture, and heritage within the public sector.
- Managing historical documents, museums, historical sites, cultural heritage...; Preserving, restoring and promoting the value of historical and cultural heritage;
- Party work, historical and cultural work… in state agencies, social organizations and non-governmental organizations;
- Editing, publishing, journalism, translation…;
- Managing the development of historical and cultural tourism activities; Tourist guide;
- Providing consulting services on cultural history, cultural industries, heritage economics, etc., to international organizations, companies, and corporations both domestically and abroad;
- The work involves issues related to the social sciences and humanities.

- Research institutes, such as member institutes of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Vietnam Military History Institute, the Institute of Party History, etc.;
- Universities, academies, colleges, and high schools that teach history, culture, and subjects such as the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Fundamentals of Vietnamese Culture;
- State agencies and organizations (central agencies of the political system, press and media agencies, People's Committees at all levels, museums, historical and cultural research centers, units managing historical relics and cultural heritage, publishing houses, bookstores, specialized history journals, etc.) and non-governmental organizations that utilize historical and cultural knowledge.
- International organizations, companies, and corporations, both domestic and foreign, operating in the production and business of goods, products, and services related to the historical and cultural knowledge, country, and people of Vietnam.
5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.
- After graduation, history graduates can pursue higher education and engage in self-study to improve and enhance their professional skills.
- Continue studying for a Master's degree in the Department of History: specializing in Archaeology, Vietnamese History, World History, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Historiography and Historiography, and Cultural Studies, Cultural Management;
- Continuing doctoral studies at the Faculty of History: specializations include Archaeology, Vietnamese History, World History, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Historiography and Historiography within the History field; and Cultural Management.
- In addition to their main major in History, during their studies, if they meet the requirements, students can pursue a second major in one of the following fields: the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Education, or the Vietnam-Japan University within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
- At the same time, Master's and Doctoral programs are not limited to the specializations (at the Master's level) and specializations (at the Doctoral level) within the History department; graduates with a Bachelor's degree in History can pursue Master's and Doctoral studies in various other disciplines within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
