PART I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM

2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General Objectives

The research-oriented undergraduate program in International Studies aims to train high-quality, highly qualified human resources with in-depth, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of international studies; to foster students' creativity and critical thinking skills so that they can apply and analyze international issues and events; to disseminate and spread knowledge; and to develop a professional, independent, and collaborative work style in an international integration environment, contributing to the cause of national construction and defense.

2.2. Specific Objectives

- To equip students with a foundation of basic knowledge in social sciences and humanities, social and behavioral sciences; and to develop in-depth knowledge of International Studies with 4 specialized training areas: International Relations, European Studies, American Studies, and International Development Studies;

- Develop professional skills in research, teaching, and practice in International Studies; while also cultivating soft skills and critical thinking abilities, independent work skills, willingness to collaborate, autonomy, and accountability to society;

- To guide and equip students with the capacity to continue their studies at the postgraduate level to become experts in research and teaching in the international field; and to prepare them for careers in government agencies, businesses, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations, etc.

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Regarding knowledge

PLO 01. Applying general knowledge of political theory, law, social sciences and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and international and regional studies to learning and research; applying knowledge of natural sciences and information technology to analyze and evaluate social science data, adapting to the era of Industry 4.0, and meeting job requirements;

PLO 02. Analyze international events and data within the field of international studies to assess the impact of integration, globalization, and international political and economic changes on Vietnam and other countries around the world.

2. Regarding skills

PLO 03. Simulating the scientific research process in the field of international studies: problem identification, question formulation, hypothesis development, outline, theoretical framework, and selection of appropriate research methods;

PLO 04. Applying knowledge of international relations to solve hypothetical situations and practical exercises in research, analysis of foreign policy, or academic diplomacy;

PLO 05. Independently perform specific or complex tasks, ensuring accuracy in the absence of physical samples;

PLO 06. Organizing and implementing activities involving various tasks; knowing how to evaluate results after completion and make adjustments to choose alternative solutions under changing conditions;

PLO 07. Lead, start businesses, and create job opportunities for yourself and others.

PLO 08. Effectively communicate professional viewpoints and ideas in the field of international studies to coordinate or proactively complete assigned professional tasks and duties, meeting job requirements in the context of digital transformation and internationalization;

PLO 09. Proficient in using academic English in the social sciences and humanities in academic and professional environments at level B1, equivalent to level 3 (according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam) as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University;

PLO 10. Proficient in using computers, office equipment, some artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to effectively support learning, research, and professional work.

3. Level of autonomy and responsibility

PLO 11. Know how to listen and respect the opinions of others; be able to reconcile differences and resolve conflicts at work in a spirit of cooperation and responsibility;

PLO 12. Effectively carry out teamwork, know how to assign tasks, coordinate and support members to achieve common goals;

4. Job positions that students can take on after graduation.

- Conducting research and teaching on international issues at universities and research institutes;

- Providing advice, consultation, editing, and developing work programs for foreign affairs activities at diplomatic agencies at the central and local levels, international cooperation departments of ministries, branches, organizations, security and defense agencies, and media and press agencies;

- Providing advice, consultation, editing, and developing work programs for working in foreign representative offices, international organizations, domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations, various types of businesses, especially joint ventures.

5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.

After graduating from this program, students can pursue postgraduate studies in International Studies and International Relations or other fields at educational institutions both domestically and abroad.
