PART I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM

2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General Objectives

Graduates in Tourism and Travel Service Management are trained to possess comprehensive knowledge of tourism and travel service management; solid professional skills and diverse professional competencies; good political and ethical qualities, a responsible, independent, and cooperative work attitude; an awareness of preserving, protecting, and promoting tourism resources; and the ability to adapt and work in a multicultural environment, meeting the high-quality human resource needs of the labor market and the challenges of the industrial revolution and globalization.

2.2. Specific Objectives

- To train learners to master the basic knowledge of social sciences and humanities, management science, business administration, tourism science (tourism culture, tourism geography, tourism economics, etc.), as well as comprehensive knowledge in various fields of tourism business activities such as travel management, tour guiding, event management, tourism economics, etc., so that they can apply this knowledge to research, tourism business, travel or event management, provide quality services, satisfy customer needs, and ensure sustainable tourism development;

- To train students to be proficient in the basic skills and professional practices of the specialized field such as travel, tour guiding, event management, and tourism economics; to know how to organize, supervise, and manage work while ensuring the best working principles and procedures; to be able to participate in adjusting and implementing strategies, projects, and business production plans of enterprises as well as policies at state management agencies on tourism; to have the skills to conduct independent, practical research in tourism or participate in scientific research and teaching on tourism; to have presentation skills, interpersonal communication skills, teamwork skills, and to use specialized English proficiently;

- To train learners to possess critical thinking skills, self-learning abilities, independent research skills, and the ability to work independently and proactively, assuming leadership roles when necessary; to scientifically build and defend personal viewpoints, plan, coordinate, monitor, and improve professional activities in accordance with the professional context; to be confident, flexible, capable of handling situations, and adapting to an international work environment; to have a sense of responsibility towards their work and profession, towards customers and the community, and to adhere to professional ethics; and to have an awareness of preserving cultural and natural resources, contributing to sustainable tourism development.

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Regarding knowledge

PLO 01. Applying basic knowledge of political theory, philosophy, economics, sociology, law, and technology to understand and address academic and real-life issues in the contemporary context;

PLO 02. Applying fundamental knowledge of academic standards, professional ethics, creative thinking, design thinking, entrepreneurship, information technology, and AI tools to analyze and solve professional and life problems in the context of the digital age;

PLO 03. Applying foundational knowledge of management, communication, scientific research methods, principles, models, and processes in the field of social sciences and humanities;

PLO 04. Applying knowledge of tourism and travel service management to research, business, management of tourism, travel and events;

PLO 05. Able to apply practical professional knowledge to research, business, and management activities in tourism, travel, and events;

PLO 06. Apply knowledge from specialized fields (travel/events/tourism economics) to research, tourism business, travel and event management, providing quality services, and aiming for sustainable development.

2. Regarding skills

PLO 07. Proficiently practice the basic skills of the major such as travel management, tour guiding, event management, and tourism economics;

PLO 08. Possesses the skills to identify problems and propose solutions in business and tourism management contexts;

PLO 09. Proficient in using information technology, machinery, equipment, and specialized software in studies and work;

PLO 10. Proficient in English at level B1, equivalent to level 3 (according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam) as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University; Proficient in English for tourism and specialized English in academic, research and professional practice activities;

PLO 11. Design and implement research, management, and communication activities in a practical environment;

PLO 12. Proficient in presentation skills, interpersonal communication skills, teamwork skills, negotiation skills, and persuasion skills.

3. Level of autonomy and responsibility

PLO 13. Develop critical thinking, self-learning, self-research, independent and proactive work skills, and assume leadership roles when necessary; build and defend personal viewpoints scientifically; plan, coordinate, monitor, and improve professional activities in accordance with the professional context;

PLO 14. Confident, flexible, capable of handling situations, and adaptable to an international work environment;

PLO 15. Demonstrates a sense of responsibility towards work and profession, towards customers and the community, and adheres to professional ethics; possesses an awareness of preserving cultural and natural resources, contributing to sustainable tourism development.

4. Job positions that students can take on after graduation.

- Specialists in state agencies managing tourism;

- Employees or officers who organize, manage, operate, and implement activities in travel agencies, transportation companies, event organizers, entertainment venues, and other service units;

- Teaching or research in tourism training institutions or research centers and institutes;

- To be able to own and operate businesses in the fields of travel, events, and other tourism services;

- Tour guides, on-site guides;

- Other suitable jobs.

5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.

- After graduation, graduates in Tourism and Travel Service Management can continue their postgraduate studies to become highly qualified professionals in the tourism field: such as pursuing a Master's degree in Tourism at the Faculty of Tourism Studies, or transferring to pursue a Master's degree in Arts and Culture, a Master's degree in Vietnamese Studies, a Master's degree in Business Administration, or a Master's degree in Tourism at foreign universities.
