History of formation
The Faculty of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is the first institution to train Political Science in the university education system in Vietnam. The Faculty of Political Science was established by the decision of the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on September 27, 2011. The predecessor of the Faculty of Political Science was the Department of Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Thought, established on October 24, 1995, under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Up to now, the Faculty has had a long tradition of nearly 30 years of construction and development. Since 2005, the Faculty has been assigned by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to train Masters and PhDs in two majors: Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies; In 2008, the Faculty was assigned to train Bachelors in Political Science; By 2012, the first class of students of the Faculty (QH.2008-CTH) had graduated.
Mission
The Faculty of Political Science has the mission of disseminating knowledge and meeting the needs of society for human resources with specialized training in Political Science - those who are capable of researching and practicing politics, and have the ability to operate in fields requiring an understanding of Political Science. The development orientation of the Faculty in the near future is to build the Faculty into the most excellent training and research unit in Political Science in Vietnam.
Vision 2035:
To become a prestigious training and research address, with integration and creativity in Political Science knowledge with Vietnamese identity, meeting the needs of the domestic and international human resource market.
Outstanding achievements
Up to now, the Faculty has trained more than 400 graduate students, more than 100 doctoral students, more than 700 undergraduate students; organized 10 training courses for lecturers on Ho Chi Minh Thought, with more than 500 graduates, most of whom are lecturers at universities and colleges across the country. Currently, there are 209 students, 65 graduate students, 55 doctoral students, 32 short-term students studying at the Faculty. The Faculty's postgraduate and short-term training programs are not only organized in Hanoi, but also in many provinces and cities across the country.
