During the meeting, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading training institution nationwide in social sciences and humanities. The university's multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to training is evident throughout its programs, from bachelor's and master's degrees to doctoral degrees. In particular, the Department of Korean Studies, under the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, is one of the first units in the country to organize training and research in Korean Studies. Emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation with international educational and research organizations, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong welcomed the goodwill of the International University, Kyung Hee University, in exchanging and negotiating cooperation, aiming to build a foundation for effective and lasting collaboration.
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, discussed cooperation in teaching and organizing Vietnamese language exams.
According to Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is the largest and highest-quality training center in Vietnam for foreigners who want to learn Vietnamese and explore Vietnamese culture. The department is a pioneer in establishing a Vietnamese language teaching framework for foreigners and is one of the leading units nationwide authorized to organize Vietnamese language proficiency exams at six levels. Therefore, supporting teaching through both in-person and online methods will provide opportunities for Korean students who wish to learn Vietnamese language and culture anytime and anywhere.
Dr. Luu Tuan Anh – Head of the Korean Studies Department – discussed interdisciplinary training between the two universities.
According to Dr. Luu Tuan Anh, as an academic institution with extensive experience in student and faculty exchange, USSH – VNU is always ready to welcome Korean students to study and conduct research in Vietnam, participate in short-term courses, and create opportunities for cultural exchange and interaction between students of the two universities in particular and Vietnam and Korea in general. Furthermore, both sides should aim to strengthen cooperation in the fields of training and research, and offer short-term training courses, providing students from both universities with the opportunity to fully experience the cultures of both countries.
Associate Professor Bui Thanh Nam shared about collaborative models such as 1+3 and 2+2 between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Kyung Hee University..
Dr. Yoochul Lee shared his agreement with the proposed cooperation options, affirming that Kyung Hee University, a leading research institution in the social sciences and humanities, is exploring and seeking collaboration with universities in Asia that excel in research. Based on this, and as a leading research institution in the social sciences and humanities, cooperation with USSH – VNU will undoubtedly bring sustainable value to both sides. Furthermore, in the future, the two institutions will work more closely to develop a dual degree program between the two countries, providing students from both universities with the opportunity to study in a diverse learning environment with a rich knowledge base.
