The Inter-Faculty Conference has been a tradition of cooperation between the two faculties of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for over 10 years. The process of cooperation and exchange has helped the two faculties initially form a modern academic style, harmonizing academic and empirical. The two faculties of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language aim to focus on the issue of researching the content and teaching methods of Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies in a direct and specific manner with the challenges and opportunities in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution.
The workshop is organized in a combination of live and online formats.
This conference gathered nearly 30 presentations from staff of the two faculties, focusing on areas such as: Vietnamese language and Vietnamese linguistics teaching methods; assessment and evaluation framework; Vietnamese culture and history; Vietnamese literature and art; interdisciplinary theory... The reports and presentations provided diverse findings and perspectives on research methods, teaching methods, research content, teaching content, research orientation, and teaching programs. The research topics evoked many values about how to teach languages in special situations, opening up a number of important ideas for exploring creative and assessment models in universities. The interdisciplinary factor and the identity of Vietnamese studies were also emphasized through the way the authors posed research questions, implemented research, and concluded their research.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa affirmed the importance of promoting research on Vietnamese studies and Vietnamese language to serve the cause of national development. The interdisciplinary conference is an opportunity for scientists to exchange and share knowledge and experience to consolidate the theoretical and practical foundations for this field. At the same time, the conference also helps to increase solidarity and connection between the two leading training institutions in the fields of Vietnamese studies and Vietnamese language in Vietnam. Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa hopes that the knowledge and experience shared in the conference will be transformed into practical training and consulting activities. Scientific activities will contribute to enhancing the position and prestige of the two organizing units.
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam delivered a keynote speech at the conference.
On behalf of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam (Deputy Dean of the Faculty) shared that the 2020 Inter-Faculty Scientific Conference was held in the context that the Faculty is on a new path after 10 years of successfully building the Vietnamese Studies bachelor program, after 5 years of operating the Vietnamese Studies master program, after 2 years of completing the profile for the Vietnamese Studies program in English. The prospects of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language rely heavily on the achievements of scientists and teachers of the Faculty. The overall picture of the collective of lecturers and collaborators of the Faculty is composed of bright patches of research topics with personality and rich in scientific content.
After the opening session, the workshop took place with the following presentations: "The river environment in the cultural life of Vietnamese people, the Northern Delta through folk songs and proverbs" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh; "Towards creating interdisciplinary knowledge in the study of Vietnamese studies and Vietnamese language" by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chi Hoa; "Approach to teaching content of traditional Vietnamese music performing arts associated with the life cycle in the field of Vietnamese studies" by Dr. Nguyen Dinh Lam; "Survey of teaching grammar content expressing proposed actions in Vietnamese language teaching textbooks for foreigners" by Dr. Vu Lan Huong; "Interrogative pronouns in Vietnamese and notes when teaching foreigners" by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Thi.
