Over the past century, the transition from Ethnology to Anthropology in Vietnam has made Anthropology a science with particularly profound theoretical and practical aspects, with a system of Anthropology research, education and practice institutions gathering hundreds of staff members to research, teach and practice human policies.
With clear evidence, from the voices of those in the industry, with a global, regional and national perspective, covering basic research, applied research and training, aimed at Vietnamese readers, this book brings readers basic and general knowledge about Anthropology, a comprehensive science of human beings.
The book consists of 26 articles, structured into three parts, focusing on clarifying the name, definition, object and scope of research, history of formation and development, theoretical approaches, research methods and topics, contributions and prospects of Anthropology in general, sub-disciplines and specialties of Anthropology in particular. Part I includes four articles "What is Anthropology?", "Biological Anthropology", "Archaeology", "Linguistic Anthropology" to help readers understand how anthropology is a comprehensive science that studies humans. Part II is 20 articles that introduce more specifically the specialties of the sub-discipline of Cultural Anthropology, although from some specific perspectives the articles are more or less related to the remaining sub-disciplines of Anthropology. Part III is two articles on theory and research methods in the two sub-disciplines of Cultural Anthropology and Linguistic Anthropology.
With a logical structure and easy-to-understand writing style, illustrated with many vivid examples, it is hoped that the book will be a useful document for Anthropology students, university students, high school students and readers who want to learn about Anthropology. The book is also a good document for research and teaching Anthropology.
