Throughout various periods and historical changes, American people-to-people diplomacy has proven its role as a form of "soft power," increasingly utilized by American administrations to persuade and garner public support in other countries around the world, and even within the United States itself. In fact, people-to-people diplomacy has contributed to national security, economic development, and the improvement and gradual enhancement of America's standing and image on the international stage. This book highlights the fundamental differences and superior advantages of this practice in the United States compared to other countries. In particular, it emphasizes the people-to-people diplomacy that the United States has undertaken in Vietnam and draws specific lessons for people-to-people diplomacy in Vietnam. This book will provide readers with useful and valuable information that will help diplomats and policymakers develop foreign policies appropriate to the new situation in our country and the world. The book has 232 pages and was published in December 2009.
