The humanistic aspect within me is a mosaic of many colorful pieces that I have gathered for myself over the past three years. The picture may not be complete because I still have much to explore, and it may not be colorful enough because the humanistic aspect within me doesn't need to be dazzling or brilliant. The humanistic aspect within me simply needs to be humanistic.
For me, the humanities is red – the color of passion. The school, with its young and enthusiastic students, is dedicated day and night in many different ways. These young people contribute their strength and intellect to building the school and society. There are the "Sunshine of Humanities," "Supporting Students During Exams," "Student Ambassadors," etc. These young people contribute to nurturing and cultivating dreams. Everyone helps to ignite the flame of humanities passion. "You can't win any important battle without passion." Therefore, each individual, no matter how small, is indispensable to the collective.
For me, humanity is represented by the color white – the color of peace and simplicity. I can find peace in the school throughout all four seasons; season after season, the school stands there, steadfast and enduring. Perhaps the only changes are leaves replacing leaves, buds replacing flowers, and people replacing people. How do you define peace? Surely everyone has their own answer. Why does the school give me such a sense of tranquility? A glance, a handshake, or any gesture is enough for me.
For me, humanism is yellow – the color of optimism. I can hear voices and smiles everywhere. The sounds of students, the sounds of lecturers, even the sound of the wind carries a cheerful hue.
For me, humanism is the color green – the color of trust and hope. You ask if I've ever lost hope? Of course, everyone has. During my early days at university, struggling and unsure of which direction to take, overwhelmed by questions, I looked to the older students, the teachers, and the mentors who were persevering on their chosen path, and I urged myself to stay strong and move forward.
For me, humanities is orange – the color of safety. Safety is the feeling I use to define my own private space, which is home. Humanities gave me knowledge, faith, hope, and friends. You can't compare your college friends to your high school or kindergarten friends. It would be a mistake to talk about college without mentioning my friends. My friends – sincere, cheerful, understanding…and who also carry within them the same love as I do.
My humanistic perspective has its blemishes – that's when I see less-than-perfect gestures, less-than-pleasant words, and because I'm a humanist, I always expect it to be perfect. But thankfully, my humanistic perspective isn't entirely black, just a few gray spots. I hope that over time, those spots will be replaced by brighter, more cheerful colors.
That's the picture of Humanism within me, a picture I'm still painting to this day. And what about you? What color is your Humanism?
