"Proud to be a Humanities student"

If the school years passed by in the dreams of adolescence, then perhaps the university years are the time when we feel the most maturity in life. Time flies so fast; I still vividly remember the feeling of receiving my university acceptance letter, an overwhelming joy. The first day I stepped into the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the feeling of bewilderment mixed with the nervousness of a freshman submitting her application, and suddenly almost a year has passed. A year of study filled with experiences, leaving me with so many emotions.

I came to the Faculty of Humanities by chance, not out of any particular passion. But I gradually became drawn to the specialized subjects, the interesting and witty lectures. Besides that, I felt integrated, and my passions were gradually realized thanks to the care, listening, encouragement, and support of the professors.

Participating in extracurricular activities and interacting with people from different backgrounds has enriched my life and academic experiences. After the challenging university entrance exams, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will welcome new students. Looking back, a year ago, I was just like other students, diligently studying and stressed about the university entrance exams; there were times when I wasn't even sure where I would study. But a year later, as I write these lines today, I feel I have matured a great deal. I want to share some of my experiences and life lessons with you, especially the new students, hoping they might be helpful in your lives.

To succeed in a new learning environment, each student needs to equip themselves with the following basic skills: First, self-confidence; this is a key factor in assessing your enthusiasm and dedication to your work, and vice versa. Second, trust; if you want to succeed in your work or any field, you need to trust your colleagues. With trust, even difficult tasks will be completed easily. Third, and equally important, is listening and understanding others' psychology. This means that when working in a team environment, you should listen to the feedback of team members, both praise and criticism, to reflect on yourself and learn from your experiences. While listening to the collective opinion, you also need to have your own opinion and defend it until you are convinced by a better, more feasible idea, or until no one disagrees with your opinion or decision. Understanding the psychology of all members is extremely important, whether you are an employee or a leader, as it will make your job easier. Fourthly, creativity is crucial in shaping your personality. When working in a team, where ideas overlap and members lack inspiration, your creativity is essential. It helps you assert yourself as a capable individual.

Over the past year, what I have accomplished is still too small compared to what the teachers and staff in the school and department aspire to build and nurture. One swallow does not make a spring, so let each student be a swallow, uniting to bring spring together. Therefore, let's all strive together, determined to excel in our studies and in extracurricular activities to establish ourselves, promote and bring the image of our school to everyone. Be proud that you are students of the Faculty of Humanities.
