University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU

The Department of Cultural Studies was officially opened at the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU since 2020, on the basis of the major of Vietnamese Cultural History under the Department of History since 2000 and with the teaching staff of the Department of Cultural Studies (originally named Department of Vietnamese Cultural History) - a unit established in 1998, with Professor Tran Quoc Vuong as Head.

Culture is the whole creation and invention of human beings, for survival, the purpose of life. Culture is the superstructure so it holds a very special position. Therefore, when talking about culture, we must talk about core values, the quintessence. Culture shows the height and depth of development level, culture is both the driving force and the development goal of each community, of the whole country. In the National Cultural Conference (1946), President Ho Chi Minh affirmed the particularly important role of culture: "Culture lights the way for the nation to go".

Not starting from a “traditional” school to pass the university entrance exam, Bui Ha Anh - a former student of a continuing education school, has quietly written an inspiring story of breakthrough. Not letting circumstances determine the limit, the young girl studied all night, overcame skeptical looks to reach the dream of "University of Social Sciences and Humanities", became valedictorian, and received a prestigious scholarship.
