Ikebana is a traditional art form of flower arrangement that has a strong appeal and a significant influence on people-to-people diplomacy at the regional and global levels.
Currently, the Department of Oriental Studies at VNU-USSH offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in Japanese Studies. To provide students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, and young Vietnamese people in general, with the opportunity to learn more about the unique traditional culture of Japan and to strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries, the Department of Japanese Studies, in collaboration with the Ikebana Association in Hanoi, is organizing an exchange and presentation on the art of Japanese Ikebana.
The Ikenobo Vietnam Tachibanakai Study Group is a branch officially recognized by the Ikenobo school – the largest and oldest school of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) in Japan.
The event featured two speakers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsuchiya Kuniyoshi (Lecturer at the Ikenobo Research Institute) and Ms. Le Pham Viet Ha (Abe Hanna), Representative of the Ikebana Association in Hanoi (also a former student of the K45 Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies).
