Summer course on Global Politics

Summer course on Global Politics in Vietnam 2014, theme: "Regional Economic Cooperation: Challenges and Opportunities for Europe and Asia". Duration: September 8-20, 2014.

The program is jointly organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP); and the Center for Global Political Studies (CGP) – Free University of Berlin.

COURSE CONTENT

The course will provide participants with in-depth insights into regional challenges and cooperation models in Europe and Southeast Asia. The increasingly important role of transnational organizations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) or the European Union (EU), will be discussed and analyzed within various theoretical frameworks. In particular, the course will focus on the challenges and opportunities of current and future economic cooperation mechanisms. Aiming to provide an international dialogue forum, the Vietnam Summer Course 2014 will invite scholars and students from Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Germany, and several other countries to participate in discussions and exchange ideas and perspectives.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Regarding skill level:

  • Possessing sufficient understanding and interest in global political issues.
  • Applicants must be final-year undergraduate students or graduate students in Political Science or related fields.

TUITION:

Students will not have to pay tuition fees to participate in the program. Students are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. A financial allowance will be provided to students from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam (if they live outside Hanoi) to cover travel expenses from Cambodia, Myanmar, and cities outside Hanoi to Hanoi, Vietnam.
