Speaking with a reporter from Dan Viet Newspaper, Trinh Thi Ngoc Anh, a recent graduate in Tourism and Travel Service Management from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, happily shared her outstanding graduation achievement with a GPA of 3.84/4.0. Not only did she achieve such a high GPA, but Ngoc Anh also completed her program early, in just 3.5 years.
With this achievement, Ngoc Anh became the second-highest scoring student in this graduating class and represented hundreds of students at the school in giving a speech at the graduation ceremony.
"I understand that no effort is wasted. Every drop of sweat in the lecture hall, every sleepless night spent studying, and even the times we stumbled and almost gave up... all of these have forged the character we have today. This success is called 'New Graduates of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' – a title we will always be proud to carry with us throughout our lives," Ngoc Anh stated.

Previously, Ngoc Anh also achieved several remarkable accomplishments, such as First Prize in the Student Scientific Research Award competition at the Faculty of Tourism Studies in the 2023-2024 academic year; Second Prize in the Student Scientific Research Award competition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 2023-2024 academic year; Author of the topic in the "Best Presentation" category of the "Green Torch" Student Scientific Research Award in the 2023-2024 academic year; and a Student Scientific Research project that received priority investment in the 2023-2024 academic year.
In addition, Ngoc Anh also had a paper published in the Proceedings of the 2024 National Tourism Conference "Applying Digital Technology, Exploiting Heritage Values, Serving Sustainable Tourism Development in Vietnam"; received the Grade A Academic Encouragement Scholarship from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities five times; is the Head of the English For Tourism (E4T) Academic Club of the Faculty of Tourism Studies; won first prize in the competition "Understanding Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought" along with a series of other titles.
Sharing her reasons for choosing Tourism and Travel Service Management as her career path, Ngoc Anh said she chose Tourism Studies because it's the only field that gives her a true sense of "living" – traveling, listening to cultural stories, and inspiring others.
"For me, travel is not just a job, but a way for me to connect with the wider world. Tourism studies is a field of study about people and empathy."
Instead of just seeing the world through screens or books, this field of study gives me the opportunity to directly hear cultural stories and touch the vibrant historical values that are still present. I realize that each place is not just a destination, but a treasure trove of knowledge. Traveling to understand those values helps me open my heart, learn to be more tolerant, and feel myself growing in my thinking," Ngoc Anh said.
According to the student, she wants to use those real-life experiences as material to inspire others in the future, helping them to also appreciate the beauty of this world. That's how she connects herself to the wider world – not just with her feet, but with the empathy and mindset of a professional.
For Ngoc Anh to achieve her Excellent graduation degree today, besides her own efforts and support for her teachers, it was also the silent sacrifice of her parents.
"My parents live in the countryside and work hard in agriculture, so they couldn't teach me about specialized skills or guide me towards a high-level career. But they gave me something far more important: absolute trust," Anh expressed.

The day Anh decided to retake the entrance exam (having previously chosen the wrong major) was an extremely risky decision at the age of 18. Anh's parents didn't scold her or put pressure on her; instead, they said, "If you've made up your mind, then try your best to study and achieve the results you desire."
That very quote motivated Anh to study day and night, to pass the entrance exam to this school and this major.
Ánh's family's support was sometimes simply a phone call asking, "Have you eaten yet?" or the bags of gifts from their hometown whenever they came to Hanoi. The student remembers one unforgettable experience: the time she was under immense pressure from her studies, her part-time job (she tutored a 9th-grade student in Math and a 6th-grade student in English), and had dengue fever, before finally agreeing to be the club president. At that time, Ánh looked very tired, and her mother said, "Go back home, even take two weeks off from school. Results are important, but health is more important." Thanks to those two weeks of "pause" to go home, eat her mother's cooking, and breathe the fresh air, Ánh recovered both physically and mentally, ready to return to the fight.

"Therefore, I would like to dedicate this diploma to my parents – the most unsung heroes in my life. Their support has sometimes been filled with high expectations, and sometimes with encouragement. But it is this very contradiction that has driven me to strive harder to reach my full potential," Ngoc Anh confided.
Ngoc Anh's future plan is to cultivate a disciplined spirit and a fighting will, unafraid of hardship. After that, she will apply for Marketing or Training positions at tourism companies to contribute, care for, and spread positive values to the community.
Addressing the students, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son - Vice Rector of the university, said: "Knowledge is always a vast river; each course is like a boat carrying aspirations and ambitions, and each teacher, staff member, and employee of the university only plays the role of contributing a hand to help push the boat to a certain shore."
I believe that, from the School of Intellectuals, Humanities, and Aspirations, the 369 new graduates, in addition to their final academic achievements, have had the best academic environment to maximize their talents and intellectual creativity, contributing to building the foundation of Vietnamese culture and people, and spreading the nation's positive values to the world. We hope that the humanistic identity will forever be the foundation and starting point for them to elevate their ambitions and confidently move forward on their path to career success."
