Careful and serious preparation: the decisive factor to get the "nod" from the employer
With many years of experience in the field of training, recruitment and human resource management, having held management positions in many companies and corporations, 03 speakers: Ms. Tran Thi Huyen (Head of Training and Internal Communications Department of True Money Vietnam Joint Stock Company), Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh (Deputy General Director of Bao Tin Manh Hai) and Mr. Tran Ngoc Son (Founder & CEO of The Trainee Club) discussed and shared many personal experiences around the topic "Secrets to conquering employers".

According to experts, many students after graduation, with good professional knowledge, however, when submitting their application to apply for the job positions they love, they fail to pass the application round, or if they are lucky enough to get to the interview round, their performance is not suitable or not outstanding, leading to not being able to convince the employer to choose them. Have you ever wondered why you failed: due to low self-esteem, nervousness and fear; due to lack of skills to handle situations, difficult questions from the interview panel; not making an impression, not understanding the expectations/desires of the employer...? Fortunately, there are many ways to help you overcome challenges if you prepare a solid foundation: from good professional knowledge to the most necessary soft skills and especially a serious and responsible attitude.
Good expertise: of course you have to become an expert in your field, choose the right industry, love it, be passionate about it and constantly improve your knowledge in that field. In fact, all majors have the same opportunity to find a good job and be successful, as long as you really love it." - Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh emphasized.
What are the necessary soft skills?? Where do you study when you have not yet been exposed to the reality of work? Simply, you study at your own school, with your teachers and friends. Teamwork skills, public speaking, presenting ideas, designing, organizing events, etc. can all be practiced when you actively participate in activities in class, extracurricular activities, clubs, etc.
Serious and responsible attitude: shows that you value the opportunity to be interviewed and prepare well for that event: understanding the recruiting unit, the requirements of the position you are applying for, neat and polite clothes, polite and confident attitude, some "little tips" to gain sympathy from the recruiter. "You prepare carefully and seriously may not guarantee 100% that you will succeed and be selected, but if you do not prepare, you will definitely fail 100%. This is a quote from a politician that I always remember." - Ms. Tran Thi Huyen shared.

Be a professional, confident candidate during the interview process.

Coming to the sharing session, many students wondered: what employers expect most from young candidates, fresh graduates, without practical experience; how to handle difficult situations, tricky questions from the interviewer; confidently showing all of your strengths and talents or being humble, modest and not daring to express yourself,...
The live interaction on stage with the participation of 3 students as candidates and 3 speakers as recruiters was a very interesting part of the event. By participating in a real situation, not only the 3 students themselves but also nearly 400 students sitting in the auditorium gained valuable experience and knew their strengths and weaknesses.

So what questions do employers often ask new graduates with no work experience (juniors, freshers)?
The questions and real-life situations will be extremely diverse, but will certainly revolve around the following main issues: 1. Please introduce yourself? 2. What are your career goals? 3. Why did you leave your previous job? 4. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are your weaknesses? 5. What do you know about our company? 6. Why did you apply for this position? 7. Why should we hire you and not someone else? 8. What salary do you expect? 9. Tell me about a time you failed,…
The secret is:Before entering the interview room, learn carefully about the company and the job position you are applying for; maintain a calm and confident attitude; answer honestly about what you have and what you are looking for (including suggesting a high salary if you think you deserve it, because that is also a way for you to affirm your value to the employer). And don't forget to smile, bow and say thank you to the people who just interviewed you even if your performance was not as expected. "And of course, don't forget, you can only be truly confident and sure of winning when you have thoroughly cultivated your professional knowledge and skills throughout your time at school, it cannot come in a day or two."– Mr. Tran Ngoc Son shared.
