Specific mechanisms and policies are needed for tourism in Northwest Vietnam

This was a common idea shared by many experts and researchers at the workshop “Developing specific mechanisms and policies for tourism in the Northwest Vietnam”. The workshop was co-organized by the Vietnam Institute for Folklorists and Faculty of Tourism Studies, USSH on December 19th, 2015.

The community involvement project of Catholic Junior College and TASS – USSH, VNU

From 10th to 18th November 2015, the Tourism and Scientific Services Company Ltd – TASS (University of Social Sciences & Humanities, VNU Hanoi) and Catholic Junior College, Siam Express, Singapore cooperated to organize a community involvement project in Ben Tre, Vietnam.

Honoring young individuals at grassroots level

143 individuals including 13 staff, 2 research fellows and 128 students were awarded the certificate of distinguished young individuals by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of USSH) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of USSH) in the morning of September 12th, 2015.

Meeting with former Indian Ambassador to Vietnam

On Dec, 4th, 2015, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Faculty of Oriental Studies’ staff and lecturers welcomed and met with Mr. Neelakantan Ravi (Former Indian Ambassador to Vietnam/Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India) and students from the Indian Institute of Management Studies Bangalore (BIMS).

Student of Faculty of Oriental Studies won First Chinese Speaking Prize at Chinese language fair

As one of the cooperative activities between USSH, VNU and Guangxi University, China, from November 23rd to 29th, a USSH’s delegation of 5 lecturers and 40 students participated in the Chinese language fair held by Guangxi University.

Argentina and Vietnam share similarities in maritime issues

On December 1st 2015, the Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam and ambassadors of other South American countries had a talk with the lecturers and students of the Faculty of International Studies, USSH on “Argentina’s foreign policy and cooperation with South American countries”, in which the issue of “Malvinas islands” received the most intense discussions.

Two seminars – One direction

For over a month, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, with the Division of Literature as its key member, organized two seminars with the participation of many experts, scientists and leading educators. It focused on the innovation of teaching contents and methods in teaching Vietnamese literature, a minor under the undergraduate program in Vietnamese studies. The seminars raised many issues from small questions such as the works and authors that need to be taught to general ideas such as whether subject or genre should receive more focus, or whether Vietnamese cultural foundation and the traditional way of teaching literature should be focused on more. The challenge of creating a complete and effective bachelor's program in Vietnamese studies through intensive modules has attracted many experts, scientists and teachers who came from prestigious research units.

Teaching methods in higher education today – from the perspective of students

On November 25th 2015, the Youth Union collaborated with the Office for Personnel of USSH to organize the seminar titled “Teaching methods in higher education today – from the perspective of students”.

International conference on coastal tourism

On November 24th 2015, Faculty of Tourism, USSH, VNU, Kent University and Bradford University (United Kingdom) co-hosted the international conference on “Coastal tourism”.

“Maritime silk road” and international relations in the South China Sea: Present situations and prospects

It was the name of the international conference co-hosted by USSH and Konrad Adrenauer Stiftung (KAS) at Hilton hotel (Hanoi) from November 26th to 27th with the participation of domestic and foreign prestigious scholars aimed at discussing about “Maritime silk road”, its implications for the current regional and global political and security situation.

Postgraduate opening ceremony in 2015

On November 24th, 2015, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU held postgraduate opening ceremony for master's and doctorate candidates in 2015.

First Master Program in Communication Management in the North kicked off

On November 17th 2015, Faculty of Journalism and Communication and Stirling University (UK) co-held the opening ceremony of the first Master's Program in Communication Management at USSH. This was the first of its kind in North Vietnam.

On November 13th, the Institute of Contemporary Religious Studies (USSH-VNU) and Faculty of Philosophy (USSH-VNU) collaborated with the Institute for Religious Science (Germany) to organize the international conference titled "Researching and teaching German thoughts in universities ". The conference took place during two days, from 12th to the end of 13th of November, 2015.
