Overview

History

The Faculty of Anthropology of USSH, VNU HAnoi is one of the leading instutitions that studies and trains Anthropology in Vietnam.

With a long tradition, founded and developed on the basis of Division of Ethnology of USSH's Faculty of History, the history of the Faculty of Anthropology has many important developments:

• 1960: Section of Ethnology was founded as part of the Faculty of History, Hanoi General University.

• 1967: Division of Ethnology was founded as part of the Faculty of History, Hanoi General University.

• 2004: Division of Ethnology changed its name into Division of Ethnology, USSH, VNU Hanoi.

• 2010: Division of Anthropology was founded.

• 2015: Faculty of Anthropology was founded.

After more than half a century, the Faculty of Anthropology is the only higher education instutition of Vietnam training Anthropology at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Mission

To become one of the leading centers of anthropology in Vietnam and the region, effectively combining theory and practice, quantiative and qualitative methods, basic and applied research to produce professional and reputed practitioners of Anthropology.
