11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

Approaching from a sociological perspective, this thesis focuses on researching and analyzing the current state of digital skills among students studying at several public universities/colleges in Hanoi, identifying factors influencing students' digital skills; and subsequently proposing recommendations to enhance students' digital skills in the context of current digital transformation.

The research results show that students' digital skills are developed through the complex and interwoven interaction of many different factors. In the surveyed schools in the capital city, students have favorable conditions for internet access and ownership of digital devices, resulting in differences in digital skills among student groups. Based on an analysis of the current state of digital skills among Hanoi students, this thesis analyzes the influencing factors across various dimensions: students' personal characteristics, family background, learning environment, and self-learning motivation.

Based on these analyses, the thesis has further clarified the close relationship between family background, learning environment, and students' self-learning motivation with the enhancement of digital skills. Simultaneously, the study proposes recommendations and solutions using a multi-level and interconnected approach for various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, lecturers, youth organizations, and students, to support students in enhancing their digital skills in the context of current digital transformation.

12. Directions for further research:

Future studies on students' digital skills can be developed in three dimensions: (1) students at private higher education institutions and international schools, (2) students studying at universities in provinces and cities other than Hanoi, and (3) students from ethnic minorities.

11.Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

Adopting a sociological perspective, this thesis investigates and analyzes the current state of digital skills among students at selected public universities and academies in Hanoi, identifies the factors involving these skills, and proposes recommendations to enhance students' digital proficiency in the current context of digital transformation.

The research findings indicate that students' digital skills develop through the complex, intertwined interaction of various factors. While students at the survey institutions in the capital enjoy favorable conditions regarding internet access and digital device ownership, disparities in digital skill levels exist among different student groups. Based on an analysis of the current digital skill landscape, the dissertation examines factors across several dimensions: individual student characteristics, family background, the learning environment, and student motivation for self-directed learning.

Through this analysis, the thesis clarifies the strong relationship between family background, the learning environment, and self-directed learning motivation on the one hand, and the enhancement of digital skills on the other. Furthermore, the study proposes recommendations and solutions using a multi-level, integrated approach involving various stakeholders—including the Ministry of Education and Training, educational institutions, tutors, the Youth Union, and the students themselves—to support the improvement of students' digital skills amid the ongoing digital transformation.

12. Further research directions

Future research on students' digital skills could be expanded along three primary dimensions: (1) students enrolled in private higher education institutions and internationally affiliated universities; (2) students attending universities in provinces and municipalities outside the capital city of Hanoi; and (3) ethnic minority students.
