10. Summarythenew results of the thesis

The thesis has presented the theoretical basis, historical issues of classification, and theory of modal verb classification in languages ​​in general, in Korean and Vietnamese in particular. Identifying and establishing a list of three typical modal verb subtypes: speech verbs, modal verbs, and verbs of motion, clarifying the grammatical and semantic characteristics of Korean modal verbs. The thesis has conducted a fairly comprehensive survey of the general picture of Korean modal verb classification, according to grammatical-semantic and pragmatic formal standards. Presenting the thesis's viewpoint on criteria and classification theory, providing the basic syntactic structure of the three Korean modal verb subtypes, analyzing the related elements according to three aspects of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic. The thesis has divided these subtypes into small groups. Selecting typical modal verbs to describe, deeply analyzing their semantic and pragmatic characteristics through examples from real-life corpus. In the comparison with Vietnamese, the thesis has pointed out some similarities and differences in the research of classifying phonetic subtypes between the two languages.

11. Practical application

The results of research on verb grammar and verb classification can be applied to teaching and studying Korean and Vietnamese as a foreign language as well as to practical application of Korean-Vietnamese translation. The research results are also reference materials for compiling textbooks and reference materials for Korean teaching programs for Vietnamese people as well as teaching Vietnamese to Korean people.

12. Further research directions

Continue to conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on the comparison of Korean and Vietnamese verb subtypes. Towards compiling a monograph on Korean verb grammar and verb subtypes.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The thesis presents the theoretical background, rationale, classification history, verb-classification theory in languages ​​in general, in Korean and Vietnamese in particular; identify and make the list of three subtypes of verbs: verbal verbs, modal verbs and modal verbs. It also classifies grammatical- syntactic characteristics of Korean verbs. The thesis' points are built on the base of classification criteria and classification theory, providing basic syntactic structures of the three primary types of Korean verbs. It also classifies these types of verbs in details. Focusing on typical verbs and described, studied deeply about their semantics and pragmatics characteristics through illustrative examples from practical linguistic material. In the section of comparison with the Vietnamese, the thesis outlines several similarities and differences in study of classification modal verb subtype between two languages.

12. Practical applicability

This research results of grammar of verbs, verb classification can be applied to teaching, research Korean and Vietnamese as a foreign language as well as the real situation of the Korean – Vietnamese translation. In addition, the results are used as a reference for the compilation of textbooks and Korean curriculum for Vietnamese people as well as Vietnamese curriculum for Korean people.

13. Further research directions:

Continue to study comprehensively and intensively about Korean-Vietnamese's verbs and their subgroup comparison towards compiling a text book about Korean and Vietnames verbs grammar and Korean subgroups.
