- This dissertation systematizes the Party's policies and directives on Vietnam's relations with Cambodia from 1993 to 2010.

- To present the advantages, limitations, causes, and results of the four lessons learned from the Party's leadership regarding Vietnam's relations with Cambodia from 1993 to 2010.

- This dissertation provides reference material for research and teaching on the history of relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, especially for studying the topic "The Party's leadership in diplomatic struggle and international mobilization in the Vietnamese revolutionary process" in training institutions and universities.

- To provide scientific data as a basis for formulating policies and measures for implementing Vietnam's foreign policy towards Cambodia and the Party's open foreign policy during the đổi mới (renovation) period.

- Furthermore, the thesis provides significant references for researching the historical relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. Especially, in teaching and learning, this thesis will contribute significanlly for the specialized course on “The Party's leadership on diplomatic struggle and international mobilization during the Vietnamese revolutions” in Vietnamese higher education institutions.

- Thesis provides scientific evidences for orientation on Vietnam's guidelines and measures to implement the diplomatic policy to Cambodia and the broader diplomatic relation of the VCP in renovation period.
