10. Summary of new results of the thesis:

The thesis not only contributes to systematizing and updating a number of theoretical issues related to prejudice but also designs a theoretical framework and a set of tools to measure prejudice against people who have completed their prison sentences in Hanoi.

Through practical investigation, the thesis discovered some specific manifestations of prejudice against people with criminal records, which are: people who have completed their prison sentences are not people with good personalities; people who have completed their prison sentences are people with bad personalities; people who have completed their prison sentences cannot reform; people who have completed their prison sentences cannot assume social roles; people who have completed their prison sentences are people who have no value to society. These are factors that have not been established in previous studies.

The research results also show that the factor of Judgment of people who have completed their prison sentences is the most influential threat to prejudice against people who have completed their prison sentences compared to the two factors of Behavior of people around and Media. Prejudice against people who have completed their prison sentences is closely correlated with people's emotions and behavioral tendencies.

11. Practical application:

The research results of the thesis are one of the reference sources for teaching criminal psychology and psychology of management and education of criminals in schools of the People's Public Security force today.

12. Further research directions:

The study aims to discover other types of prejudice against prisoners in practice; examine some factors that play an important role in maintaining social prejudice against prisoners such as: culture, and the efforts of prisoners themselves.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

This thesis is not only systematized theoretical issues related to social prejudice but also offered theoretical framework, and a set of tools for measuring prejudice against ex-offenders in Hanoi city.

The thesis finds some specific types of prejudice against people with criminal records, for example, ex-offenders are not people who have good traits; ex-offenders are people who have bad traits; ex-offenders cannot be rehabilitated; ex-offenders cannot fully implement their social roles; ex-offenders are useless people. These are factors that have not been raised in the previous research.

The result shows that "perceiving ex-offenders as a threat" was the strongest predictor of prejudice incomparison to other factors that were examined. Prejudice against ex-offenders had a significant correlation with the behavioral emotion tendencies.

11. Practical applicability, if any:

The findings of this thesis could be used as supplementary materials for teaching such subjects as criminal psychology and psychology of rehabilitation in universities and colleges of Ministry of People's Public Security.

12. Further research directions, if any:

Future research will focus on finding the other types of prejudice against people with criminal records in real life, and examine some important factors affecting prejudice against ex-offenders, such as culture, ex-convicts' effort.
