11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
- The thesis contributes to enriching the theoretical and practical contributions in media research on a specific issue, here is the communication on child abuse in the Vietnamese press. The thesis confirms the necessity of interdisciplinary media research, on a specialized subject, with an approach based on human rights - a direction that has not been pursued by many Vietnamese authors.
- The thesis has systematized, analyzed and interpreted theoretical issues related to media and journalism specializing in children as a basis for implementing the research topic.
- The thesis synthesizes and arranges sources of documents to generalize the problem of child abuse in Vietnam today from an interdisciplinary approach (law, society and culture).
- The thesis has surveyed and analyzed the current situation of communication on the issue of child abuse in the Vietnamese press; evaluated the successes, limitations and pointed out the causes of the successes and limitations in the process of press communication on this issue.
- The thesis has proposed solutions and recommendations to improve the quality of communication on child abuse in the press.
12. Practical application:
Child abuse is currently a burning issue in society; therefore, the results of the thesis will contribute to solving urgent practical problems in social life in our country. The thesis is a useful document for managers, press agencies, reporters, journalists, media specialists, individuals and organizations working in the field of child protection. The conclusions drawn from the thesis research will be useful for the practical activities of individuals and organizations participating in the process of communication to prevent and combat child abuse, helping to thoroughly resolve difficulties and limitations in communication about child abuse. In addition, the thesis is also a reference document for training institutions, scholars, lecturers, researchers and students studying Journalism, Communication, Sociology... and at the same time opens up new research directions to continue to develop and improve the quality of journalism in general and specialized journalism related to children in particular.
13. Further research directions:
In the future, the doctoral student will continue to develop the topic with in-depth research on each step and stage in the communication cycle to prevent and combat child abuse; research on communication on the issue of child abuse in the digital age; research on ethics and how journalists handle sensitive situations when reporting on child abuse; research on the effectiveness and impact of press articles on child abuse on public awareness, attitudes and behaviors, etc.
